You are correct Jack. When things don't work right it irritates the hell out of me! Hacon, I believe the answer is here-"Wiper start up immediately when I switch the key to run" - that tells me the motor circuit is getting grounded when it shouldn't. Before you said that when the dash switch was disconnected, and the green wire momentarily grounded, the wipers cycled once and then parked, correct? If so, then the motor operation and park function are fine and that leaves a short or ground in either the wiring harness or the dash switch. Do this- disconnect the 3 wire connector and 2 wire connector at the motor and the green wire. The 3 wire connector middle spot should have 2 white wires and that is the 12 volts hot from the ignition. With the key in "run" verify that. Then, with the connectors still disconnected, key in "run", the wiper motor should be OFF. Yes? If so, then with the dash switch disconnected, plug the 3 wire connector back in, and put the ignition in "run". Does the wiper start? If so, there is a short to ground in that harness. If not, plug the 2 wire connector back in. Does the wiper start? If so, a short to ground is indicated. Plug in green wire, If the wipers are still off, then that leaves the switch itself. Plug it in to the harness, turn key to "run". If the wipers start, there is your short. If not, then we go in further. Also, what red wire is getting hot? Where does it go, what is it connected to, and if it is spliced in, what is it spliced to?
