You are correct Jack. When things don't work right it irritates the hell out of me! Hacon, I believe the answer is here-"Wiper start up immediately when I switch the key to run" - that tells me the motor circuit is getting grounded when it shouldn't. Before you said that when the dash switch was disconnected, and the green wire momentarily grounded, the wipers cycled once and then parked, correct? If so, then the motor operation and park function are fine and that leaves a short or ground in either the wiring harness or the dash switch. Do this- disconnect the 3 wire connector and 2 wire connector at the motor and the green wire. The 3 wire connector middle spot should have 2 white wires and that is the 12 volts hot from the ignition. With the key in "run" verify that. Then, with the connectors still disconnected, key in "run", the wiper motor should be OFF. Yes? If so, then with the dash switch disconnected, plug the 3 wire connector back in, and put the ignition in "run". Does the wiper start? If so, there is a short to ground in that harness. If not, plug the 2 wire connector back in. Does the wiper start? If so, a short to ground is indicated. Plug in green wire, If the wipers are still off, then that leaves the switch itself. Plug it in to the harness, turn key to "run". If the wipers start, there is your short. If not, then we go in further. Also, what red wire is getting hot? Where does it go, what is it connected to, and if it is spliced in, what is it spliced to?

This one gets hot: Pic, with yellow X marking the hot wire. (its not to hot but my dad always mentions this and he knows electronics 😛 )
- "The 3 wire connector" and "2 Wire connector" Which one is that? I don't remember any white cables, i have some light yellowy, maybe their weathered to the point where their yellowy?? One of the yellow ones, is ground for my Washer pump (see the pic) it goes into a new red Wire that was in my Washer Pump kit, i got at my local "random everything for cars, boats etc. store". Is that the 3 - wire connector? :O
- Thanks
- One more thing: my old pump is still in the assembly, i just left it there..

The 3 wire connector is on the right side, fender side. It should have a grey, purple, and white wire, and the white wire should double over and go to the 2 wire connector. Looking at your picture the 2 wire connector is not there and the 3 wire has a blue wire there too? What is that orange wire the white is crimped to? What is the red wire connected to? the green wire is a seperate connector, yes? (I forgot the green wire, so I edited the tests)

Mark,
It looks like someone may have done some creative wiring in there. Also, I noticed in the center of the black cap, it appears to have a plug missing... I see you noticed that already.
I know exactly what you mean about the doubled white 12 volt leads. I suppose they can become discolored over time. I'll have to take a look at mine, even though I'm running the mid-'80's wiper motor

Like you suggested earlier, it may come down to rewiring the wiper harness from scratch.

Bonnewagon, do you mean the The red wire that connects to the white yellowy one with a see-thru tube with 2 strips? Thats the wire that goes to my washer pump, i believe this one was ground.. If you click on the last picture you will see it connected all the way to my new pump.

The missing plug belongs to the old washer pump, a friend and i removed it because it belongs to my old washer pump that never worked. We took the two wires out of it and ran them to my new pump, that works fine, and still does, this was probably three weeks back..

Yeah Jack, this is a mess. That's why I want him to seperate the motor and start from there. Somewhere there is a short to ground that is screwing up everything.

20151016_160741.jpg What do you mean by separate the motor? The only mess that I have created myself on the motor assembly is removing that one plug for the washer and running them both to a set of new wires with non-responding color that goes to my new pump that is mounted in front of the Fluid reservoir. 🙁

Hold on- that red wire is crimped to a white wire? And is connected to your new washer pump? And is the washer pump grounded through the pump case? Or is the pump grounded by the pink wire as it should be?

Bonnewagon, i very specifically remember a lot of talk about a pink wire, i believe it is yes. If you look closely at the picture you will see that it is indeed wired to the pink one.
This should explain the missing plug for you guys 🙂

No Hacon I'm not blaming you. This wiring is all screwed up, and I want to seperate the motor from the wiring so we can find the problem. Remember, this car has a negative switched system where the motor is fed 12 volts and the dash switch is the ground. With the wiring removed from the wiper motor we can work our way back to the dash switch and find the problem. Yes, the pink is correct. Whew!
