This would be enough to scare me away "While I was replacing the push rods I discovered the crank and pistons were new as well". Not sure where to start....
That had me scratching my head as well. X ray vision i suppose

Which begs a question, was the Cutlass produced in more prolific numbers? Even Regals seem to be more available than a Malibu.

I think so. In my area I dont see a ton of any g body except plain jane cutlass. I cant drive a block without seeing an original one, a ragged out one, or a custom one.

I think the cutlass was the most produced gbody??

I do find it interesting how the 78-81 are so scarse. I know their run was less then half of a 81-88 were but i see way less then youd expect to see given that. I guess maybe its a combination of shorter run, a few years older, fewer performance ss grand nat type people tended to preserve over base model basic transportation.

I guess I'm screwed. I have close to 28K invested in my El Camino, I probably never see anything close to that in return.

Not even going to mention how much I have in my Regal. Lets just say ill have to be buried in it for at least a century to get back some on it.

Malibus coupes did not sell well in the lower midwest, based on my historical observation here. I do recall seeing them pretty regularly when I was in Iowa, but they were still fairly new then. Went from Iowa to Dallas, hardly ever saw one and took me 3 years to find a decent one without a vinyl top.

For the early H/Os, there is a 79 a little ways from me, but I'm a little skeptical of anything the guy has to say based on the ad and photos

The A/G-body Cutlass and Regal were both produced until '88.

The last gbody rolled off of the assembly line in Dec 1987. None were manufactured in 1988.

There were 88 model year Cutlass and Monte Carlos while the Regal, Grand Prix, and El Camino ended in the 1987 model year.

Great shape must mean all doors and windows were left open to rinse out everything on a daily basis. LOL And by "kept inside" means inside a pool chemical storage house with the doors shut.
