Out with the old leaking jb weld special:

In with the new aluminum 2 oversized core, water pump, hoses, tstat, etc:

Ended up jury rigging some pallet wood into some slats to rest the battery on and hold it from sliding backwards. Truck is rust free where it counts - floors, rockers, roof, firewall, cab corners, but had a couple weird spots from being a farm/sitting truck. The fender completely rotted away at the battery tray mounts to where the only thing holding the battery up and in was the headlight wiring harness.

So now there is wood under the battery holding it somewhat in the air, and a stick of wood propped against the front and bolted in the jack holding bolt.

I'd rather keep my rusty 44 year old fender than chinesium garbage from good mark or the others that doesn't fit well and/or dents when you lean against it. 2 months ago reasonably priced nos gm units everywhere. Tax refunds, people were snapping them up, all thays left are overpriced ebay idiots who haven't sold theirs in 4 or 5 years because they somehow think it's worth 400,500,600 or more. After that long you think they'd drop the price to what sells?

So, need to find rust free used original with zero dents/rust, or, nos... we'll see.

It is a clean AZ truck.. just trying to figure it out. So far it’s been a fairly easy beside I’m missing a lot of the small parts unfortunately..

We had some of those, 1986 f150 rclb 4x4 I6 4spd growing up. Great engine and can WORK. Not recommended, but, we'd upgraded the shocks/springs both to carry a slide in camper while towing a boat, and, hauled a couple tons worth of stone slabs from a quarry for the walkway. Also hauled 4 ft length firewood stacked higher than the cab by putting boards in the stake pockets.

I will say this though - our experience (in new england) was that the brake systems did NOT like sitting for any extended period of time without regular use. At the time we were told by others that was a common issue, but don't have anything to confirm that other then personal experience.

But good luck on the project.
