It's the universe trying to tell you that white letters don't belong on tires.....
I have to disagree. Back when these cars were new, RWL's was the thing. It's period correct and I like the look.

Must be my inner 17 year old, I still like and want RWL BFG TA’s (or the like) on my Cutlass. Makes the painted Ralleys look so much cooler. IMHO

I like coopers. They dont like Iowa winters. My previous set split the circumference of the tire on the sidewall on 3 of the 4 after I drove it in some -30*f weather.
other than that they have a good deep tread pattern and are really grippy. you can kind of tell just feeling them by hand, but they feel grippy. wet weather they're about as good as any tire. they do ok in the snow. plus the snake on the black side is dope.

Regarding the yellowing, I clean my car all the time so I never noticed it. But brake dust and road grime come right off with that bleche wite and a stiff brush.
Agreed, Cooper tires are great on a daily driver. I’ve bought several sets myself and had very good luck with them but as I noted in my initial post this is not about which tire is best. I know many have Cooper cobras on their G body and as stated I think they make the car look cheap. It’s like the pair of cheap shoes your mom bought at Walmart because she didn’t have enough money.
All of the VIN 9 cars came from the factory with RWL tires except the Grand National. I like stock appearing G bodies so anything but RWL tires for me are a turn off.

When these cars were 'new' & RWL's were the thing, I was the odd-duck then as well as now.
One of the 1st things done to every vehicle I bought was to break the tires down so they were black-wall out if not already that way.

Not looking for a fight, but curious what it is about them that makes the car look cheap? I liked the "old" BFG with all upper case letters, but that was a looooong time ago. Who remembers "Belted T/A"s?

I never liked the "Road Hugger" tires, but they were popular in TX in the 80s

This 442 got the Walmart shoes - yuck. The car looks neutered. Reminds me of clapped out G bodies I see in Detroit

It’s simply a matter of opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to start a fight here either

BFG had a tire called a 'Traction TA' for a while that was a directional 15" tire with a semi sporty but still 'all season' tred. I had them on my Cutlass 10 years ago but they went out of production.

I have cooper cobras on my Wagon T type wheels and 2 of the 4 on my cutlass wheels and I've always liked them. I actually have Coopers on my Daily Rainier and their RS2's (non directional summer only tire) on my 2+2 and the cost vs reward on pretty much all coopers are pretty good.

The problem I have with BFG radial TA's is they look like they are stuck in 1994. The tred pattern is fine I guess on a stock 307 brougham but look like they hook worth a crap.

Mastercraft has a tire available in white letter too.

The white lettering on my T type wheels and cutlass is still white but I put all my white letters in.
