What Did You Do To Your G-Body Today? [2022]

Been giving the engine compartment a freshen up, new radiator hoses, fuel pump, thermostat, belts, fresh coat of POR15 Olds Gold and a new set of spark plugs. Figure I'm going with black Taylor wires, will order a universal set later on, for now the old Accel set will do for now to get her running again. Going to pick up a new starter solenoid and a couple 5/16' steel line for the. transmission cooler lines. With the new Thornton headers they are now in the way. Ordered a set of SS downpipes from Pypes and hoping they will work out, or at least be close enough to finesse and mate to my existing dual exhaust system. Still a ways to go but making some progress every night I've been out there. The body work is progressing really well too just about ready to start on the the roof, quarter panels and door jambs.

Looking great Mike! I’m very glad also to see you finally getting to work on it. It’s been too long.

Have been fighting an occasional fuel delivery issue and it got to the point where I was running my float bowl dry just maintaining 60 mph. Luckily I had installed a backup fuel pump up near the carburetor in case it became more than just a miss on interstate on ramps.

Either my pump on the frame rail is in the middle of crapping out or the tiny little fuel filter that screws into it is plugged. I am definitely not looking forward to a gas bath when I go to unhook all of it to troubleshoot.

Thanks Donovan, the picture isn’t the greatest with the sun low in the sky and my garage’s fluorescent lighting, but it does look pretty good again. Clean and simple under the bonnet is what i’m shooting for.

Pulled out both the old non-delay & the junk yard delay motors to make sure they both worked which they did as designed. Pumps were a different story. The non-delay has a Trico electric replacement so maybe it sat too long with the pump body being quite rusty (& hasn't been used since 2004). This is a back up so I'm not going to worry. The delay has the OE set up with a broken nipple so it at least needs rehabbed but will get replaced with a electric pump that looks like OE. Not sure if the power source was the issue as it pops its breaker over 2.5 amps but both motors worked as they were to do so with that.

Went up the road to a last minute cruise in with some G body friends. The Monte is the one I helped do an LSA blower swap on, and the 2 tone Malibu is Cory's buddy that we both know but didn't realize it until last year. The Malibu is super well done, set up for autocross, running a small block with 6 speed, AC, big brakes, etc.

Injected Cutty, well awright! Nice looking rides. You mentioning Cory's buddy got my attention for a question. Do you recall the part number for the lower "O" Rings that Cory used on that LS6 intake that I bought from him? I have trying to find a replacement set for both the tops and bottoms and found the uppers as FelPro items but have not been able to identify the bottoms. I suppose that I could live with them but it was a bottom that didn't seat right and that caused that leak that stripped off that beautiful finish job that he had applied.

Any Ideas?

Nick, he said they were just stock LS3 injectors as he bought them new.
