It's adjustable there at the bracket with the 7/16 nut in your diagram.

    blazer rear end

s-10 Blazers use 7.5 rears, Full size blazers use 8.5 rear ends, but it wouldn't be very practical to convert one.

    350 turbo ?

I rebuild trannies for side work, I'd say ur trans is fine. 2 yrs in a dry place should'nt hurt anything.

    rear end??

I believe you're correct about the carrier, but if he dosen't have a posi already, then IMO it's worth changing carriers anyway. Also with a mild 350 he'd be lucky to hit top speed in o/d with 3:73's. let alone 3.23's Multiply 3.73 by .67 and you get 2.49, that's what a not o/d trans would have...

    Starting problem PLEASE HELP

It shouldn't be getting soaked with gas, I would change it with a real gasket even if you don't think it's leaking vaccume just for peace of mind and to eliminate that variable. Bill gave sound advise, same things I would have suggested, except I'd use gas in a spray bottle instead of starting...

    torque converter

The input shaft in the trans should just pull straight out. I would pull it out and see if it fits into the converter correctly. The input shaft is the smallest shaft in the center of the pump. Also make sure the pump gear turns freely, it's what the flat spots on the converter hub fit into.

Our father God and Savior Christ

http://y-jesus.com/body_count1.php For anyone who is actually willing to give christianity a chance there is a great write up on this site, written by scholars and skeptics using historical facts. It looks at ALL sides of the story. Check it out, you have nothing to loose and everything to gain!

    Loose Steering Column

There are 3 bolts behind the steering wheel that become loose over time, you can get to two of them by removing the steering wheel, horn assy, turn signal assy, etc. I tightened just the two I could get at on my monte yrs ago and it's still tight.

    torque converter

The t/c dosen't need "clocked" Take a flashlight and inspect the inside of the pump, make sure the "tangs" look like they will line up with the hub of the converter. Use a couple screwdrivers or some needle nose pliers and make sure the "tangs" turn easily. Be careful not to damage the seal...

Idiot light. On the highway. 86 GP, 305

The code would set if you bypassed the sensor/ egr controls. The prob with hooking straight to ported vaccume would be the egr valve opening on acceleration. This would almost surely cause hesitation and spark knock. The simple thing to do is block egr function and either live with the light or...

    torque converter

Well I can tell you it's not from having no oil in the trans! lol If you still have your old t/c you could compare the two and make sure they are the same.

Sounds like it's still not far enough back, I beieve it should go 3 "clicks" back It's been a while but I've rebuilt a trans in a 2001 sport trac I feel ur pain!

    rear end??

If you can find a g/n rearend that would be a very nice improvment, but anything with about a 3.73 gear should put a smile on ur face. IMO

Question on power gain if I...

There is no rule in dirt track racing about not running a short stroke engine, they don't do it cause there is less power to be made with smaller engines. I can't see any type of racing where they purposley destroke an engine making it have less displacment for the sole purpose of higher rpm...

Question on power gain if I...

The point is simple more stroke = more torque and more displacment. Why didn't you build a 327 instead of a 383 then? Why not take it a step further and build a 302? 3" stroke and a 4" bore makes for a super high reving engine and even less side load on the cylinders! Why do all the dirt track...

Question on power gain if I...

1/4" is significant in my book, sure you might have enough, but given the circumstances why not take all you can get? Why build a 383 when a 355 will get you by? A 383 uses a 3-3/4 stroke, which = more torque. If someone is interested in high rpms then a 377 might be the way to go, but overall a...

Question on power gain if I...

They make the bearings. A destroked 400 will have less torque, not only from less displacment but Stroke = torque, think about it if the rod journal is further from the crank centerline it will have more leverage which = more torque. I'm not familiar with "d dish pistons" How are they made...

Question on power gain if I...

It all boils down to what your budget is, you need to start with a realistic budget with room for the extras nobody thinks about. You can put a 350 crank in a 400 block, it makes a 377. You can either get thicker main bearings or buy an aftermarket crank made with bigger mains to fit a 400...
