BUICK 1964 Skylark Coupe Project

You know, for all our talk with 69hurstolds lately, I do believe I may see someone who picked up some white new balances to go with his buick....

I'm just getting them broken in for mowing season 😁

Nah, hasn't quite gotten there yet. Eventually he's gotta LOOK the part of the guy who would've bought the car new:

Well he isn't getting any younger, you've heard those insurance commercials where the kids turn into their parents?

The correct rear window panel arrived yesterday. I spent some time today getting it roughly mocked into place. I still need to cut the edge inside the package tray where it will get butt welded which will allow it to drop down and sit flush with the quarters. Otherwise it's mocked into place and looks good.

Not quite sure how I'm gonna get my 6'3" 280 pound *ss inside the trunk to weld the flanges but I'm sure I'll figure something out.

You can do it. I got my 5'9" 250 lb fat a$$ in the trunk of Sean's 78 Camaro. I think getting out was harder.

Seeing both pic 4 and pic 5, this might be the perfect time to go after the surface rust on those brackets and those upper wheel well curves. For values of the term, they are about as much out in the open as they will ever be so slathering a coat or two of Ospho or RustMort or Concrete Etch on them, neutralizing it as specified, and then throwing some epoxy primer or ??? at the surfaces afterwards would go a long way towards future peace of mind once you get that panel fitted in and secured.

Option 1 would be get a helper and use a cherry picker.

Option 2, if you're alone, is invest in a gantry crane with electric block so you can lift and lower yourself as needed....

hire a young guy with welding experience to weld it maybe talk a body shop employee not the office guys
