Re: 1986 Olds Cutlass Salon Thread (updated 6-20-10)
wow,it's been quite awhile since i've posted anything here. I have now been 9 months into the cutlass project and still not done. Since of two weeks ago the cutlass is now mobile, i road tested the cutlass up and down my alleyway and it runs ok (timing is not set and the carb isnt setup right so it cuts out and backfires a lot under full throttle),everything works including my repaired tach, speedo and the new gauges. So far over the past months i have been busy at work and ordering parts for the car, so far i have a 3 core radiator from champion cooling, hurst shifter cable, mufflers, transmission cooler, and some other goodies i ordered for it. Everything mechanical is done, leaving me to get it tuned properly and get exhaust and a new inspection for it. I got a price from the local exhaust shop on how much it would be roughly for my cutlass is at least $250. I am also in a rough spot with the inspection title being it is still young enough to be emission tested i have to run cats (which i wont), or get a modified title for it. The only other problems i have with the car now is the price of 110 octane ($42 for 5 gallons) and my shifter cable. My cable is a 5 ft length hurst cable and it is wrapped atop the transmission because of its length and it is very hard to shift it into any gear,i'm guessing somewhere there is a kink in the cable since its wrapped atop the transmission, so shifting is very difficult as of now. That's basically all that has been happening now since the last time i posted on here.
Here are some pics of the progress from the last time i posted and currently how it sits.
