Looks to me to be an R comp? But I see no treadwear rating. Do they need to warm up to stick? I would have thought the RT615K would have been the go to here.

200 A A, they are probably more tire than advertised. Smoke and mirrors.

Yeah, the important thing is a 200tw tire won't need a warmup like most R comps would. They're certainly not created equal as I have heard of certain 200tw tires being outlawed in ax because they were clear ringers. I was having a hard time on their site reading into what exactly it was as all they care about is making you believe it's the best and you need it.

Tires are a very subjective and polarizing subject in motorsports. And something that is very often attributed blame for driver ineptitude. I'll probably just put the Mrs. on a good all around tire that will give her confidence, but not mask the flaws in her technique.

Steam rollers would be cool - but, there are a few factors at play:

1. The wheels she wants - wheel diameter(s) and width(s) are going to dictate tire width(s);

2. How much we are going to chop this car up - I'd love to mini tub it (but is it worth it?); and

3. How much drivability we are willing to sacrifice - too much width and it is going to tramline like crazy and it may get annoying.

So a few days ago the car started making a god awful rattling noise (Natasha was annoyed). It was not load dependant, it didn't act consistent with RPM, and it would periodically disappear. So today I put it up on ramps, gave it a listen, popped the belt off and ran the car again - no noise. Then handrualically tested all of accessory pullies and found the culprit: smog pump.

Long story short - after exploring my options: rebuild, replace with a discontinued delete pulley, bypass with a longer rerouted belt, or smashing the guts out of it - I made my choice.

Thing works on an eccentric shaft like a Wankel. Flushed it all out and repacked the rear bearing. This is some of what came out:

If it dies again we'll just get a replacement belt. As Natasha put it: It isn't worth the effort or investment for what is coming next.
And that is why you put a ring on it

Should be able to get a 275/40/17 in there. You can also check out the Bridgestone RE71 and the Hankook RS4 as they seem to be highly regarded in the AX community as well. I'm having an MFer of a time finding some 295/35/18 tires like those for my Z06. I think I can get a 285/35/18 though. I just hate the thought of less tire but, like treadwear numbers, tire dimensions vary across manufacturers as well.

I got 99 problems...

So I got to stand in what is hopefully my last DMV line-up for a long time this morning. Went much quicker and smoother than the last few times because I drove into the big city! Got the Camaro fit for the road and put the new tags on it:

We'd originally bought these for our youngest kid (the oldest has custom plates too) and figured it was a good fit. Quick. Nimble. Ferocious.

Okay, it's none of those things... yet.
