Heard my neighbor making a bunch of racket in his shop, so went and checked it out. He's building another racecar. The main structure was brought to him, so he is doing the back section, all the suspension stuff, body panels, etc. This man is old school genius, the way he sets pinion angles, ride height, etc is awesome to observe! Ended up helping him hang the 9" in the chassis. Here are a couple pics....

Came back and finally buttoned up the front belts. I ended up just attaching the plate covers with 2 sided tape since they really won't move anyways. You can also see the new rear seat insulation I got from Mike's Montes. This car will be quiter inside than ever!

Jared only sent it to you to use as a crowbar to bust out those clear parking lights and replace them with the better looking amber ones. 😉

J/k. That was a cool move served with a big bowl of generosity. 👍
You have done it also, Sir.

Best people EVER!! I can personally vouch for Jared's "quality" character.

Yep. He and Sean opened their house to my brother in law and myself when we did the Harvey relief run. I had a per diem for food, but Jared would not let us buy a thing, and we got to hang out, see all there sweet rides, drink plenty of cold ones, and royally piss off his neighbor!!! I also employed the "patented fade" hahaha...Jared knows what I mean lol.

Been a decent few days. As most know I started the dash repair due to brittle cracking and such. The 3M bumper repair 2 part epoxy is legit for the job...shout out to Turna for sorta Guinea piggin it on his dash.
After several thin layers, block sanded with 80, I laid down another last night. I really was whooped, but Donovan helped motivate me to get it done a d I'm thankful for that. I let it cure until I got home earlier, then went to work again with 80, 180, and 220. It looks awesome in person, and I'll work on priming the area next. Here is a before/current to show the improvement....

Also, I got ahold of an upholstery shop to order the custom-ish rear seat material kit. It's paid for, the set is being made, but y'all gotta wait until I have it installed for pics. Going from tan cloth to black leather looking vinyl with a more modern style should compliment the interior.

I didn't even know a dash could be repaired like that.... Awesome work ! And once you get those skins for the seats I definitely have to know the costs involved
Me either years back. Yet again, this forum provided a good result. Turna used the same method on his dash, so I figured why the heck not! The first layer I laid down had mesh on top of it to help strengthen. Even if it doesn't come out perfect, it's gonna look 100x better than before! I have an idea for getting the grain texture back, but I'll wait until I can make it work or not to share the results.
The seat material is costing me $340 shipped, but not sure if the guy is gonna make more or not. I'd been in conversation with him for several years, but he mentioned closing up shop. I'll let you know as I asked him earlier if he'd make more.

I sure would like to know. I'm a few months away from ordering seat covers, or having them upholstered locally, but I'm definitely interested in seeing what you have.

Scott, I’m glad the little bit of inspiration I gave you last night was helpful. As much as this hobby is supposed to be enjoying and rewarding, there are times when it can be difficult to find the motivation. Especially at the end of a long day.

From personal experience, I find if I can just take that first step or even pick up a tool, before long I find the time has passed, things get accomplished, and I’m ultimately glad I forced myself to at least try.

That dash piece is looking great, it’s exceeded my expectations for sure. Keep up the great work.

Oh, and get that other damn wheelwell done already!!!!
😅

So another mystery package was at my door today when I got home. After realizing it was from Donovan I thought "awful big box for a kick panel." Turned out to be WAY more than a kick panel....it was also a pair of mint euro grilles he picked up awhile back that both of has had forgot about, and an awesome extra gift!
It's a laser etched Lou City FC plaque that a customer of his made out of wood. The detail is amazing, and I can't wait to hang it up. The message on the back means alot as the legendary RKTPWRD has become a good friend along with others outside of this site. Thanks again D, I'll proudly mount this for all to see!
