Thanks brother! I had this idea planned for quite some time, but had to move the battery and ditch the fuel cell before I could execute. The kit you have is nice, I just want the trunk to match the interior. It won't be identical, but hopefully close and look cohesive.Beautiful work Scott! I'm really glad to see you went this direction rather than go with something like the cheese-ball kit I put in my car which is carpeted cardboard and isn't worth half of what I paid for it.
Good idea for the T tops. I thought about building a door there too for access to tools, but removing the side and front panels doesn't take a few seconds so it won't be bad.Injectedcutty
Car's looking awesome!! Funny you shared this update, I'm planning to work on some similar closeout/panel work on the trunk this winter as well. Same idea for the battery relocate in the tire well. One thing I'm thinking through is to create storage "slots" in the panel that will close off the area under the package shelf to "slide" my T-TOP glass panels into, and lock in place (with some foam/felt) so they're not just laying on top of each other in the factory storage bags.
Keep up the great work!
I was excited to see this when you posted it on IGI haven't really posted much lately, but I've been busy with a much needed winter upgrade. I was going to stay quiet until complete, but pretty excited with the progress and wanted to share.
Now that the trunk is empty I'm building closeout panels to essentially hide the ugly and make it more show quality. I've never been happy about having the trunk open at shows and want to change that.
This process started months back by making cardboard templates, then a couple weeks ago I bought the plywood and got to work. I'm using cabinet grade birch plywood, and it will be covered with black carpet on the floor and vinyl on the sides which will match the interior. I still have quite a ways to go, but I've been working on it almost every evening for an hour or two the last couple weeks, then basically all today! I'll admit, I have some awesome behind the scenes help here and abroad from some top of the line trimmers which is cool, I'll post pics when warranted.View attachment 164168View attachment 164169View attachment 164170View attachment 164171View attachment 164172
Yeah I was originally keep it undercover until finished. Only a couple people knew, but for what it'll be when done it's super conservative in the interior world.I was excited to see this when you posted it on IG
Yes I plan on it.Are you going to document the process as you continue?
