Wish I could help David but I have never had a factory tach in a g body. Never had the dash that far apart either. I would rather have the factory one if you can make it work. Never much cared for an aftermarket tach unless you need one.

See that's what I am getting at, i would love to just keep it all simple and keep the original working, I don't like the look of a tach setting in the car randomly.

The Cutlass tach is set up the same way as the Pontiac one.

Thank you DoubleV, for that info! Now David, all you need to do is to CAREFEULLY remove your cluster and reset it for 8 cylinder use.

Alrighty so now my next question is, do I have to take my entire dash off.
Or can I just take the cluster out, and how if so?

Again, I'm not an Old's guy, but usually you can pull a GM cluster out by first removing the lower dash panels (by your knees), and the outer dash panel (facing you), to get at all the hidden screws. Don't miss any and don't FORCE anything. Then CAREFULLY reach behind the cluster and unclip the speedo cable. If you have cruise control, unscrew the cable at the CC box and pull the cable through enough to unclip it. Then unplug the harness and pull the whole tach/speedo/gauges cluster as one piece and do the fix. On my car I have to drop the steering column to get the dash panel off, I don't know about your's.

I feel this is going to be extremely hard, for me.
I am kind of scared I will lose/misplace/break something that's why I am a bit scared.

Dont mess with it then. Get the rest of your car squared away and then work on it. You don't need too many things going on at once.
