bbcheyv asked are there pegs on both sides of the adapter to line it up? Yes actually the spins hold the adapter to the main cap very firmly i have to use a screwdriver to pry the two apart.

Does it sit on there with no gap between the pump and the adapter? I can't tell from the picture.
Does your pump shaft have a plastic or steel sleeve on the end?

It sits flush between the pump and the adapter..the two pins line up the pump as well...I just have to figure out where to get longer main cap bolts so I can use this adapter..I have arp bolts but i know 2 of the bolts wont be long enough to bolt down the rear main cap. The oil shaft is metal but its like a plastic sleeve that holds the two shafts together. This is just a pump i got out the storage house to make sure it would fit properly with the adapter.

You can special order the bolts from ARP and if that is all you need to make this adapter work I will say you got off pretty easy. I would still take off your rear main cap and bring that with the adapter and oil pump to your machinist just to verify but it looks like it will work even though I have never seen anything like that.
Also your pump shaft appears to have a plastic sleeve replace that with a shaft with a steel sleeve( inexpensive).

😀 I hope I got off easy. Ill take the stuff by the machinist tomorrow and see what he says. The only problem I see Im going to have is I may need a extended oil pump shaft. Im going to see what length bolts I need also. I hope this thing works out. All I need now is the piston/rings/flexplate and balancer then im having them sent off to be balanced I can't wait.

Well the adapter does look like it is about as thick as the cap should be, so you might be alright with a standard length replacement oil pump shaft. The machinist will let you know hopefully.

I found this picture in an old how to hotrod small block chevy book and even though it is not a rear main it's the closest thing i've seen to that cap.
