That rear main looks like the engine was set up for a dry sump oiling system to me. Also as far as having to run a small base circle cam with a 5.7 rod crank just depends. My 1989 K1500 runs a transplanted carbed 406 with a 5.7 rod and a XE274 Comp cam without a small base circle with no clearance issues at all. Also my buddy has a S-10 that I build a 406 for that runs a XE284 Comp cam regular base circle and a complete 5.7 rod Eagle rotating assembly with no issues either. Internal block variances dictate what you'll need to run.

Crotchss or anyone else give me some more info on the dry sump oiling systems ?? What will I need

Can you take a picture looking down with the adapter on? It looks like the pressure feed hole is blocked but I can't tell because of the angle.
You don't want a dry sump set up for your engine the cost will be as much as your entire build besides the fact it is totally impractical for a mild street car.

DAMNIT...Anyway the machine shop can drill it and make it work?

Did you flip it over in the top picture? 2 of your pictures it is clearly blocked but on 1 I see the hole.

Can you set your pump on with the pump shaft where it will sit flush on the adapter and has clearance for the shaft?

Well I keep going back and forth looking at those pictures and the more I look at it the more it actually looks like it will work.I didn't realize at first that there is a second angle cut towards the hole that you can't see from overhead or the wrong angle.
I would still take it to the machine shop and let them verify it will work.
Did you ask the guy why he didn't give you the adapter in the first place?
