Thank u. I appreciate it. Several times I have looked my thread up...I almost sold the cutlass a few times. But I couldn't. I am still finding things wrong n trying to address them. It will never be a done car but I can have fun in the meantime

So I went to tune the carb and my vacuum gauge is fluctuating at idle. So I went and brought a leak down and compression tester. I guess I have either a valve issue or a ring issue.

Now I am fighting with my self over what to do if I need to rebuild or replace this motor. Do I go ls like everyone or stay kool with what I know and keep running a sbc.

Never ends....

if you check each cylinder with compressed air you'll hear the air escaping from the crankcase which means a ring problem or on top from a valve leaking....

so now I know what I have...406 sbc. Stock gm rods n crank. The cross hatch looks good. Motor doesn't appear to have many miles since last rebuild. Going to measure n record everything then decide what to do. At this point I am not sure. But the world products I-037 heads I will be reusing...

I should have took up cooking , sewing anything other then crap with motorz....

Naw just kidding I wouldnt live anyother way!

W.p. heads are currently at
Mapco Machine in Sunbury pa.
And my block is at Heffentrager Performance in Pottsville pa getting sonic checked n check for cracks before any work is done.
I am doing my own 4bolt conversion and roller rocker conversion. Plus doing the balancing on the rods n pistons my self. It's nice having a machine shop. I will do as much as I can here. The hunt is on for a good 400 forged crank sooo if anyone has a good forged crank that's serviceable lmk!
