Got a reply back from Comp Cams with their recommendation of an XFI cam,
Hyd Roller - 2100-7200rpm - Dur. At 0.050 222/236 - Valve Lift 0.566/0.578 - 114
. IDK if this is what I want or not. It "greatly improves mid to top end without hurting bottom end". I think I want a "greatly improves bottom to mid without hurting top end"...…………..

Hi Craig,

I would recommend part # 189-403-13.

Also considering:
  • BRIAN TOOLEY RACING BTR TRUCK STAGE 3 CAM Spring and Pushrod KIT
  • Stage III Camshaft Specs (31824133): 218/224 .553/.553 113+3 Requires a 3 bolt timing gear.
Also considering: Texas Speed TSP 228R 228/228 .600"/.600" 112 LSA

Also considering: Summit 8713, Stage 3 LS Truck Swap Cam, 222/231 112+5, .545/.545 Lift, 3-bolt

What are your opinions on these 4 cams? All 4 would fit with my desired 2800 stall TQ.

Summit or BTR. You dont need lift in an LS motor to get flow and your valve train will be happier. Summit will probably be cheaper and I think you could go with some GMPP springs, also save the $$$.

I like the comp cam spec you listed for a daily driver. 226 isn’t duration with 114 lsa on the 111 icl is going to drive pretty well in a 6.0. And I agree completely with Northern Regal about the lift. At lower rpms, the additional .080-.100 of lift does nothing other than wear out your valve train quicker imo.

Updated my parts list. Some major changes from the original list. No longer going with the 6l80 and instead a Stage 2 4l80 with a 2800 converter. That should work nicely with the Summit Racing Cam. I'm reluctantly eliminating VVT. After much research and feedback the Summit cam seems like a great fit for what I want. No price listed for a tune, or a tuner yet. I'll look more into that after the engine gets pulled. The 4l80 is out of an 07 3500 van. Not sure how to alter my harness yet to accommodate the 4l80. I may end up buying one after all. I pick my transmission up tomorrow. Finally feel like it's really going to happen.
