Was your front seal leaking?
Yep. After getting the balancer off, it's seaping around the seal if you can believe that. The seal did not take much effort to remove. The inner rubber part of the seal fits snugly on the balancer. It's a cheapie chrome timing cover that the seal was already in. I'm going to use 2 part epoxy (quick set 50) around the perimeter of the new seal housing and tap it in.

I have traced the leak on the power steering box to the big thread in part that goes over the shaft and threads down into the box. There is an O ring and the replacements are smaller than what I pulled out of the spare box. I installed a slightly bigger O ring this morning but still leaking. It makes absolutely no sense. I'm going to swap the part from my spare box to the reman box with new seals and see if it cures it. If not, I'm putting on a non fast ratio box.

I can believe it, those chrome covers are notorious for leaks and ill fitting seals.

You fix should solve it though, nothing worse than a leaker.

I've went through 3 front timing cover balancer seals trying to get them in. They just keep tweaking and when I get them in, they fall out. I think this chinese timing cover is screwing me. I'm also trying to do this under the car. I think the only fix at this point is to pull the front cover. If I do that, I'll have to pull the pan. If I'm doing that, the engine needs to come out. The frustration at this point is teetering on rage

If I have a timing cover seal that is slightly loose I rough up both surfaces where they touch each other and use Loctite retaining compound to hold it in place, works like a charm.

So I'm pulling the engine tomorrow morning. Was thinking about pulling the exhaust nuts at manifolds and the motor mounts to raise the engine enough to get the oil pan removed. I don't know if I can get it high enough like that but going to give it a shot first. I can't believe the fight this car has been. It's not the cars fault. It's mine for choosing bad quality parts I guess. I got the other reman non fast ratio steering box here. Even after messing with the engine, I still have to swap out a box again. Quitting for the night and going to hit it early and hard tomorrow. I still need to put in one U joint and a couple seals on the trans. It looks like the tail shaft seal, speedo seal, and side cover is leaking. This thing has marked the sh*t out of my garage. No more Master Pro seals from now on.

I haven't had any luck with Master Pro anything. I had a pitman arm get loose as a goose in 100 miles on a Chevy 2500HD. Sorry you've had such luck Danny. Hang in there. You'll get there. It's a beautiful car.

You are making my head hurt! I would drive the Elco on the cruise and let that car sit until I cooled off if it was me. If I lived closer I would come help you. I am sorry for your frustrations.

Took a soak in my whirlpool tub with the jets on high. Got a game plan together. It sucks but I'm doing it. I'm going to pull the engine from the El Camino and Salon. The El Camino engine is getting a cleaning and some blue paint and it's going in the Salon. It's a Goodwrench 350 and it runs fantastic. I WILL have the Salon at the cruise
