Finished stripping and sealing final quarter panel, this one is in particularly rough shape.

Now the entire body shell is down to bare metal and sealed. All hardware, bondo and seam sealer is removed. Time to start pulling panels and patching.

Any answers on the roof skin to quarter panel sealer? I think it's lead, not sure on best way to remove it nor what to replace it with if I do.

I was told its lead when I got mine blasted. I dont really see a need to remove it.

I may be removing the roof skin and or quarter panel, so it might have to come off.

Melt it off with a torch and a big wire brush... It falls right off.
You don't want to grind on that stuff, the dust is dangerous.
When you're finished, use a fiberglass filler like DuraGlass over the seam.

Blake is right, its lead. Melt it out and scrape off.

Cool thanks. I'll take my propane bottle torch and a scraper to it. I have good ventilation and will be sure to wear my respirator.

I found some leading/solder kits made by Eastwood online. I may look into that rather than a fiberglass to replace. Figure it's lasted over 30 years so far so why not another?

Got the lead all melted and scraped out. Started removing rusty panels to be replaced.

Spot weld drilling......not exactly enjoyable.
