After some more googling it seems the regulator requires an AN orb fitting. The previous owner used an AN fitting and put an O-Ring on it lol. Correct fittings have been ordered. I’m determined to drive this thing this year.

AN fittings do not use O rings. That looks like a sketchy fuel line set up. If it was mine I would be removing what is there and replace it with good quality parts installed properly

Inspect the threads on the regulator, I'm willing to bet he jammed an NPT fitting into those AN oring threads. I've seen this many, many, many times.
