The one you have you said you had to charge it when you got it, it was defective when you got it and when I bought one that was dead I brought it back and got a good one. Any product can be defective right out of the box and that is why they give warranties with new products. I don't think you can blame the manufacturer when you didn't exchenge it under warranty when you knew or ought to have know it was defective.

Yo 16 years ago Optima batteries were great but nowadays they are not the same
My other 2 cars are 2 and 3 years old.
A new battery should always come fully charged, did you buy it from a online dealer or an individual?

I bought it for my online dealer and all my other Optima batteries were not made in Mexico it's just the first one I have ever had that gave me problems

I have a Optima Red Top battery which I bought in 2016 if I leave the battery in the car hooked it will not crank so I charged the battery that ran the car unhook the battery and now when I go to crank it after a couple of weeks I gets nothing but a click but I can jump the battery right off and it runs
Now was the Optima used to replace another battery?
If it was did the previous battery have an issue staying charged?

So are you saying it's the alternator the older battery will sit more than the Optima and crank
No, I am wondering if there is a voltage draw that is killing any battery that is installed.
