Like what, old battery didn't do it until it was 5 years old

So was the old battery at 5 years doing the same thing not holding a charge after sitting.
I do think your Optima is probably defective it might have a bad cell but if there is another issue it would be best to find that before getting another battery

They used to manufacture Optimas across the street from the CAT dealer I worked at in Aurora CO. They had a green pro touring Camaro I'd see every so often out front. That plant has been gone probably 10 years, so most of the optimas out there have probably been produced in Mexico, no?

what is the warranty you got with the battery, it should have been 36 month replacement so you should still be within the terms for a replacement.

Charge the batteries two times and it will not hold a full charge so I just replaced it with a interstate

The battery was bought online in 2015 I can't remember from who so the warranty will not be any good

So many times you hear of people bad mouth Optima Red Top batteries and sometimes blame those problems on quality control or the fact they are made in Mexico. However, the real problem is they didn't read the instructions on how to take care of these batteries properly.

The first thing to understand is what an AGM battery is and here is an article that explains that well:

As has been mentioned, AGM batteries have special requirements for charging and manufacturers guidelines should be followed closely. Another thing to take into consideration is that the Red Top Optima should be treated differently than Yellow or Blue Top deep-cycle versions. Red Top batteries are not deep-cycle and need to be considered as a start-the-car only battery. They are not designed to ever go into a discharged state other than to start the car and immediately charge back up with a running engine.

If you need a battery to listen to the high powered stereo or use any other accessory for a time with the car not started then buy a Yellow Top or other brand of deep-cycle AGM like the Odyssey. However, even a deep-cycle AGM shouldn't be allowed to be in a discharged state for large amounts of time. They need to be in their fully charged state by the end of the day.

Bottom line is that AGM batteries are really good and last a long-long time if they are treated properly but they do have special considerations.

I'm just wondering if the battery was bought in 2015 and it was a problem right out of the box then why is it still trying to be used and complained about in late 2018.....🤔
