Our 79 Monte Carlo- Pro Touring Project

200 is a sticky tire, do those tire leave much rubber on the track?. I'm wondering if you get better times the later in the event you get on the track

Is 200 required or just the lower limit? I am leaning toward some 280s.

200 would be the stickiest. 280's would last longer but still be pretty capable.

Our current competitions often come down to a few hundredths of a second so the top 10 at any event are on S's or 71's.

Thanks, I am just looking to make my 442 perform respectfully so 280s even 340s are on my list for tires. Not trying to dominate the pro-touring GTV. Likely going with just a 245/45/17 - 265/40/18 stagger out of the shoot just to see if that can get the car to hook up, turn, and stop respectably. You know, perhaps get a "holy sh*t, that's an Oldsmobile" reaction? Beyond that just having some fun.

But, if I get the bug . . . I've got an engine core that is easily capable of a couple hundred more HP [400HP 500lb.ft. now], more carburetion and cam, actually get headers on it which I hate even the idea of, put 6 gears in it, different rear end, chop up my fender wells/flaps in front and notch my frame in the rear to get at least 285 rubber on all 4 corners, and probably box the frame more and add a few more UMI or equivalent toys. Right now, it's still a show quality low mileage 442 that I don't want to beat on too badly.

Sorry, only pic I have at the moment still with the SSIIIs on it. It is on jackstands putting on all the [mostly] UMI suspension parts and [Wilwood] brakes I already have now over in my build thread.

Note: Know that you guys are responsible for this inspiration . . . we'll see later if it was good or bad?

look at the marks on the front bumper, did the driver have a white cane when he got in the car or did he put the helmet on backwards?...😛
