You could have left that door as is and simply claimed it was original GM paint. 🙂
Oooh, burn!!!
🤣🤣🤣
Looks great, been following on Instagram.
Thanks Jim. Been following your exploits on the mountain garage as well. You’ve been very busy around there this year!
Man, i hope that one day i can get my car to look 1/10th as good as yours! As always D you do a damn good job!
Thank ya brother, appreciate it!
Could of fooled me, looks better than what I'd have if I did it for myself. Still it looks great.
Thank you!
Donovan, great work as always. Also, I have to do the same interior door panel metal strip repair on mine. I have a plastic welder that I bought when I was finishing the silver car. I have to repeat what you did and put that part of that car back together. Those panels look great!
It’s funny, I had actually got out the soldering iron to fix a couple of the clip slots that were cracked...
...and it worked great to fuse the plastic back together when I noticed the metal reinforcement had broken free as well. I scratched my head for a few minutes trying to figure out what to use as a filler rod when I thought of the plastic paint brush idea. It seems to have worked really well, like I said though, just melt the filler plastic into the existing stuff. Or else it just sits on top and won’t actually hold anything.
Of course if you have a plastic welder you’re already 3/4’s of the way there.
Appreciate the kind words!

WHAT ABOUT THE FRONT BUMPER FILLER!!!!!!!!!!!!?
View attachment 160980
Jared, all joking aside, all I can really say is to be patient and bear with me. I will get to them (almost all of the bumper fillers need refinishing and painting) sometime this winter. I will be the first to admit I’m dragging my heels on getting after them, just simply because they’re such an ignorant material to work with.
But rest assured they WILL be done soon.
When sanding runs a sharpie works great as guide coat. I saw it on YouTube and I tried it on a car, and it worked great. When I did that 33 I had to make some blocks for the body lines. I used pvc trim from Home Depot, and it worked great. Great work as always. Can’t wait to see you jump back on the juggernaut.
Thanks for the Sharpie tip, that’s an interesting one. I’ll have to give it a try sometime. But the purpose of doing the full dry and wet sand was also to completely get rid of all the other deficiencies in the finish that y’all saw. Especially the dirt and dry spray. I want this thing as slick as glass from bumper to bumper, if only to show that it can be done.
just got caught back up, haven't been in here as often as I would like lately, been dealing with alot of pain issues that have put me down...
all I can say is wow! love how humble you are when you say sorry for how the interior looks... 😆 looks like it just rolled out of the showroom! love the idea of the headliner material, I had always wondered how it would look on there, and glad I wasn't the only one that thought that. love how you brought the outside shade of grey to the interior to tie it together. as soon as I can get through some of my issues, you've once again got some fire lit under me to get back on some of my junk!
Thank you Darin, I appreciate the compliments. The interior is the worst of the car now, it’s a 5 footer for sure. It presents well from a couple feet away, but the closer you get to it the more you can see that needs attention. Although the new carpet and headliner have gone a long ways to start bringing it back around. I have a tear in the side of the driver’s seat that I’d like to get fixed, and I’m rapidly formulating a plan to restore the hard plastic seat backs. They look the worst out of everything now.
Sorry to hear you’ve been unwell lately, I had no idea and wish you all the best in getting it in check and kicking azz again. Take care of yourself my friend.
