Is the fan, water pump, and harmonic balancer the only things I remove to get to the timing chain cover ?

Harmonic Balancer Sleeve ... Needs to be pressed on...

Comes with lock tight so I know grease can't be used to lube it up.

Don't have a propane torch to heat it up and swell it...heard of an oven alternative though..

I have a hammer and a block of wood, is that good enough to get this sleeve on the harmonic balancer shaft ?

Or because I have a new balancer, this "repair sleeve" isn't needed ?

Why do you need a repair sleeve for the balancer ? You have a new cover with a new seal. Didnt you buy a new balancer ? You put a little grease in the balancer so when it gets pressed back into the cover it wont screw up the seal on the cover. Use anti seize on the balancer bolt and torque it to 60-65 ft lbs

It came with the timing cover gasket kit, I didn't know what it was...

But now I'm reading it's a "repair sleeve" for old balancers being reused with worn grooves...

Just getting clarity of what it was used for and how to put it on if need be.

If you have a new balancer you don't need the repair sleeve it's only needed if you are using your old harmonic balancer and it has a groove worn into it from the timing cover seal

Time to install the harmonic balancer...looking for all the install tool pieces so I can get started on that...

For clarity, to test for oil leaks and the current timing setting, from there once the balancer is installed, I can start run the engine only for a couple of minutes without the front engine assembly attached ?

Autozone loaner tool program has them. Make sure you use the correct end for the crank threads. Also put lube on the threads so nothing galls. If they gall youre going to have a big problem.
As far as running the motor that way, personally I wouldnt do that but I do things my own way.

Personally I would get the front drive back on before running it to check for leaks. If we are placing bets, I would say if you are going to get a leak it will not be within the first few minutes idling in the garage. Second you are talking what maybe an hour at most to reinstall the front drive and fill it with coolant over the chance of overheating a cylinder. Either way report back on your test, I am keeping my fingers crossed it does not leak.
