Is the fan, water pump, and harmonic balancer the only things I remove to get to the timing chain cover ?

Exactly, that housing and route came that way when I bought the vehicle...

I don't know what GM setup my current setup is...haven't seen one like it before....
FYI, another member (the one you probably blocked SMH) just passed along some info that you might want to know. It looks like the current setup you have is most likely from an early 90s TBI Caprice. Early C/K trucks also use the straight up neck.

Good info, but the one I ordered is 75°, not straight up...

🚫💁🏾‍♂🤷🏾‍♂🤦🏾‍♂...😎👍🏾

Type slowly. Read what you just sent. 75 degree ? Not correct.
You need a 45 with the hose shown in my photos. If you already have that you dont need anything else as long as you have the correct factory spec radiator. The hoses on both of my motors are the same. The necks are also the same.
Ok I'll take a picture of what two 45° housings that I have in about an hour or so...

Or should I just buy a 360° swivel head housing ?View attachment 193550
I’d say just use your original parts, and stop trying to upgrade before the car is even driven. The original water neck with a reasonable cleaning, new bolts, and gasket also will make it worth your time and money 💯💯

What I have isn't original though...

I mean original for what you have now. If it works, why upgrade it? Remember, it’s a 305 so going from a 4 barrel… to another 4 barrel? Isn’t going to show much results.

I did the cfm calculator...

My total was 511... 650cfm is 139cfm too big...

One thing that can happen is dogging out when it needs to downshift. At WOT it's running too rich. Too much gas for the amount of air the engine is sucking down.

The intake I have now, operation range is 1,500-6,000 rpm, while the intake I'm buying is Idle-5,000 rpm.

Not only that, but now I know how old these parts are and how much wear and tear I'm putting on these parts...I know nothing of these parts that are on it, which means I have 0 clue how much life expectancy to expect from these parts...and none are under warranty in my name...

Lot of positive outlook for doing the work that I'm doing to this engine to insure it's reliability...plus I'm learning my engine because I'm building it...
