I forgot you have that serpentine drive arrangement. The hose routing in the pic looks fine though. That angle position wasn't good for the new throttle return bracket...
Currently I have a home fabricated bracket that sits high, and the hose runs under the throttle return spring...
The new bracket is shorter and angles the spring down...meaning my current routing wouldn't work...

That's a stock setup for my serpentine setup...not my engine...I forgot you have that serpentine drive arrangement. The hose routing in the pic looks fine though.
Not sure why you have that water neck. The usual setup is what I have on the crate motor in my wagon. This is pretty much the same way the hose runs in my other car without the serpentine setup. That's a stock setup for my serpentine setup...not my engine...
Here is my current upper radiator hose setup...

Exactly, that housing and route came that way when I bought the vehicle...Not sure why you have that water neck. The usual setup is what I have on the crate motor in my wagon. This is pretty much the same way the hose runs in my other car without the serpentine setup.

But.... If you're buying parts anyway, why not get the standard GM replacement thermostat housing & factory upper hose like in mikester's image? Seems like a PITA to have the upper radiator hose routed on top of the valve cover should you need to pull the valve cover.Exactly, that housing and route came that way when I bought the vehicle...
I don't know what GM setup my current setup is...haven't seen one like it before....
Because it cost more... It was either the straight up angle, the 45° angle, and the 15° angle to choose from on SBC... I choose the 45° because I have two different 15° angle housings...each reversed from each other...But.... Notice the direction of the neck. Its the same as the one on the other motor. Same hose. No serpentine setup. And, if you use this setup you can probably fit the return spring bracket you have.Because it cost more... And yea pulling the valve cover, it's a PITA.
75° angle is the one I ordered...Wait. The one you showed that you ordered is straight up. The one you said you bought is a 45. The one in the picture in the last comment is a 45. What the heck do you have ? The one in the above photos is the correct neck. You will just need the correct hose and get rid of that flex hose thing you bought.
