Tips for changing intake manifold

So I cut out a pretty good portion of the steel like, and left the ends. I grabbed an ethanol-safe flexible fuel line. Does it matter which way the filter is facing? I grabbed one that looks like the yellow one in Texas82GP's post. Should the arrow on the filter face towards the carb, or away?

there should be an in and out indicated on the filter. You need to change that vacuum line that is in the picture, it's seriously cracked and you should check the rest of the lines. I would have cleaned that carb before installing it on a new intake I use a filter like this, the filter can be taken apart and cleaned

Thanks for all your help so far guys! Everything is I talked right now and my battery is charging. I'll she if she can't start up in an hour or two. Hopefully I have all the vacuum lines in the right spots, and the distributor in the right way.

A vacuum leak can cause a quadrajet to run poor so I don't get why you go to all that work and leave this, which I have already pointed out to you.
