Do the flare gaskets have to be put on the line before the end is flared, or can they be put on afterward? Another forum recommended Permatex 59235 to seal fuel lines. Interwebs was pretty unanimous on not using tape.

I have never used anything to seal fuel lines, if it leaks I cut off the flare and make another one

Stainless doesn't like to flare like normal steel. It should be fine though, no need to go looking for solutions for problems that don't exist. And yeah, fuel will just eat whatever you use to seal it. And the threaded inlets on rochester carbs are super fine thread, you can risk tearing them up. It seals with the flare, and gasket alone. Nothing less nothing more.

Paint.

The BBQ paint is for the turbine housing, the silver/clear engine enamel was $4/can and hiding on the shelf, Tremclad is the poor-man's powder coat, and the truck bed coating is for the floor boards of the Monte.

New pump-to-carb fuel line from Inline Tube. I know some of you think I overpaid for this, but I was happy with the quality of the reproduction, and the carb fitting on the old line was trash. That was the main reason I wanted to replace it.
