I've done alot of my car twice but only the exhaust once.I'm running the borla pro xs's on the el co and they do the job.no too loud to piss off the next door folk but just loud enough to tell people you mean business.

Unless you already know those Borlas will do the job for you, trust the guy who has to do everything twice? 🤔 There’s some logic there somewhere?

I absolutely love these. Even have one on my V6 Tacoma. No raspy rice burner nonsense. Just a mellow growl even on the V6. Now my big block will talk to you foot to the floor nicely but at highway speed unless you are under heavy load (fighting lots of headwind etc) the ole girl almost goes quiet. If you are tight on space, the one size smaller is only mildly louder.

Well, the past 2 Dynomaxes I've had on it sound like *ss, my Pypes RacePros on the 67 are the same straight through, perforated tube design as this Borla and the Magnaflow on my truck, and he just put the same Borla on the "$200 Cutlass" from a recent thread...... So, yeah, I'm fairly confident.
Clutch, you done yet?

Yeah, I've got Dynomax on my 67 and don't like the sound either. Since the exhaust system and the carb were the only things needing replaced, I've got the exact same 2 1/2" setup I have on my 87 going on it when I get around to it [like 12 deep on the task stack at the moment].

But, I thought I wanted something aggressive on my 87 so I put a set of 14" mufflers on it initially and HOLY DRONE TONE BATMAN! Sounded like straight pipes. Went to the 22" Magnaflows and have never looked back. But, like gets argued so much on the guitar forums I subscribe to, sound is SO subjective.

One of these days I'll have a sound clip . . .

Got a decent amount of stuff done. Changed the oil and filter, installed new GBP bumper lights. Taiwanese, so a bit disappointing. But they're better than the shitty fogged cracked clear ones I had in there. Installed a new dipstick tube from TA. Dipstick doesn't read correctly, so I had to make a new "full" mark with a file. It's the dipstick that came with the tube, so I was a little annoyed that I paid nearly $75 (yes I know) for that thing and I still had to modify it to work. Also had to bend the tube to clear the exhaust manifold. I guess they think everyone who buys one also has headers. Also figured out why my starter has been acting the fool. It's cracked. Very cracked. Sometimes it starts fine, other times it would disengage early, or make a loud popping sound, like the engine is fighting the starter backwards or something. That type of a sound. New starter should be at the local Oreilly's later on today and in the car by tonight.

The best muffler is a turbo!
