Played with the timing curve in my streetfire HEI distributor. Switched vacuum advance to ported vacuum. My original setup had 6 degrees of base timing, 12 degrees of vac. advance, & 18 degrees of mechanical advance. I reduced vac. advance to 8 degrees & boosted base timing to 10 degrees. Gives me the same 36 degrees total, all in by 2500 RPM, but is stronger off the line now.

Rear bumper is cleaned up and put on. Took car of a little corrosion behind the bumper cover where the rear side markers are. Started removing interior pieces for interior swap. One damn rear seat belt bolt required surgery= PITA

Bottom line I THINK the never ending saga of my AC repairs are over and the car is technically ready to pick up in the AM. Slow at work today so for a change of pace I hung out a the shop here and there today while they worked on my car

The PS pulley on my car was 6.75" only one I/we could find for a replacement with 2 grooves was 5.75". Car=1 ME= 0

Put the AC back together. It held vacuum for 15 mins or so ....... then would drop off. Car=2 Me =0

Dye in the system and the orig '84 lines had a leak at one the clamps. The drier I put on of course matched the '84 lines. I had spare '85 lines in the trunk but the drier is slightly different on the 85+ cars so it was cheaper to swap to the 85+ drier to match the untested lines. Car = 3 Me =0

With the 85+ lines and the matching Drier the system pulled vacuum well for over an hour. Car = 3 Me = 1

Charged the system up, let it run for 30 mins or so. Tech figures the Pressure switch was funky. Car =4 Me = 1

As I left the shop to go home tonight they had drained the system, switched the switch and were in the process of refilling. He sent me a text tonight as they closed up and he said it should be ready in the AM.

Hanging out there today made me realize how much I miss wrenching on cars for work. But the older I get the more I really like the fact that I can leave when it gets frustrating and just write a chq to someone else to fix it ! LOL

I changed out my apline 9835 head unit for my spare 9835 head unit. The display is stuck in dim which is kinda surprising cause I never had the wiring for the auto dim hooked up. Can't complain though, had it playing in my car for about 8 years. Now to try to get it repaired or find another one cause I don't see another new head unit that compares and money isn't an issue, I get all my audio at dealer cost...

Today's morning project was temporary new tires and wheels on the Buick.

Maybe I have too many projects...
