Speed-o cable installed with Equus adapter. Speedometer now works. Gauges still look like crap, but I'm working on a new housing/spacing and stupid idiot lights. Darlings Car Show in late August, hope to get the day off and drive my bucket of bolts there. Also decoded the rear axle. 2.29's... Going to have to fix that. At least the engine sounds good.

dropped it off at the shop this morning for an AC tuneup. Did a bunch of work last summer to get the AC working again but come the fall I noticed didn't get as cold. Now this spring its barely working at all. Compressor still cycles in so I assume its a leak and just low.

Problem - Voltage very low @ idle with a HO alternator
Solution - Changed the alternator pulley to a March 2.25" and now I'm getting 14.1v @ 500rpm

Problem - Car getting close to 220 degrees when idle for more than 10 minutes
Solution - Changed the fan clutch to a Hayden Heavy Duty. 160 degrees cruising in a 450hp 383 at 88 degrees outside. Idled for 25 minutes and the hottest it got was 191. I have a new160 degree stat just in case.

Problem - Knocking noise, slow acceleration, car stalled twice in less than 100 ft.
Solution - Blew out header gasket. Changed the header gasket to Fel-Pro 1404, also have a back up Summit brand copper just in case. May switch to Super 8 bolts.

Next up I hope to attack the loose steering issue. I bought a new steering box and a Jeep steering shaft.

Nothing much. Probably gonna change the oil this weekend then the 4th go on a nice drive by myself listening to nothing but the motor.
Finally got a good video of the motor uploaded to YouTube 😀
Video quality sucks but sound is top notch. When I rev it it distorted the audio of the phone, nothing wrong with the motor. This is the best sounding car I've ever heard to be honest.

Pulled the 700R4 setup and and installed my NEW Jakes Performance Stage 3 4L80E with D1 trans brake and Precision Industries Vigilante 4000 stall converter.

Changed the oil, 2nd batch of new oil after the break in oil. Break in oil, NOR the 1st batch had ANY flakes in it whatsoever. Perfect sheen too. Still see through. So I'd say at 17, my very first engine build 99% by myself was a complete success. Now taking orders. lol

Also figured out that 10 bucks here in Iowa gets me a 1/4 tank of 89 octane. Sweet.

$10 for ~3.25 gallons assuming 13 gallon tank? You're getting screwed at $3.08/gal when here in NE I can get 89 for ~$2.24/gal.

Nice work on the engine rebuild! First time feels good. Knock on wood it runs good for a while.

1.15 off. it's 2.05 here where I get it. little less for 87 corn fuel. 18 gallon tank. 10 bucks fills it up 1/4. Gets me almost 5 gallons.
