What did you do to your G-Body today? [2011-2018]

Thank you for the compliment, its a Burgundy colour, don't really know its paint history but it appears that only the roof was repainted at one time. I will try to figure out the paint code and get back to you with that info. Your car appears to be a survivor too!

Its funny today the wife and I were talking about paint colour and what to paint it. The front hood paint has oxidized and the landau roof is shot but the best part is no serious rust like 95% of the cars here. The frame still has factory paint on it. I would like to leave it as is but there is a couple of stone chips that need attention before they get out of control.
I plan on in a few years repainting mine the same color with a coat or three of clear to keep it that way. My car has NO rust aside from the scaly underbody stuff on the suspension parts. Still has the factory undercoating everywhere too. Spare tire well is mint. Also still have the original spare and jack. 😛 When I got he car the half top was mostly ok, but after sitting for a while it started to break up. I will get it replaced soon with more padding.

My car does not like belts. It chucked another belt last night in Downtown Des Moines. Had to pull into a full parking lot and park right in the middle. Screw trying to find a place to park when my OVER FLOW TANK IS BOILING. Used a spare belt that was too big to get home. Freaking gauge read 260 when I noticed and pulled over to find out the belt was shredded and dangling on the water pump. I suspect the alternator is sat too far back (being that it is the V6 alternator on a V8 with V8 brackets) and I have to fix that due to no money atm. Bolts and Washers here I come. Engine is 100% fine though. Still started ran an idled all the way home.

I had to go to a serpentine setup on my Regal. I would pitch belts every time I hit it hard or ran over 4000rpm. Since swap, I have not thrown or worn out the belt.

Again, money providing I would. Buick specific setups are really expensive but if it keeps happening I might have to look into it.

Put a straight edge across your pullies. Alternator pully and your waterpump pully. See if one is out of line with the others, or cocked. You should not be having that much trouble with new belts.

Started getting items off our build parts list for the motor, trans, and exhaust. Got my Magnaflow mufflers and tips in and spoke with Monster transmission to make sure we get the right build. They are extremely helpful and know their stuff. They are 4 weeks out on transmission builds right now which is fine for our time table. Still have not been able to find a decent Rocket 350, so looks like we are going with a new engine altogether. Not the way I wanted to go but at this point it's the best choice.

Well a little digging and locating the RPO sticker in the trunk lid I was able to find out the original paint/seat/top colour.
79U Primary Colour Exterior Burgundy Met (91)
79T Top DK Red Vinyl
799 Seat Belt Colour Ruby Red (93)
79D Trim Combination Cloth Ruby Red D (93)

This was from a RPO reference site located here on G Body, also found out the car is a 305 4bbl car. Over the winter likely to do some preservation to the car. I may just repaint it the same colour if time permits. My winter project slate is rapidly filling up.

Hot damn dude thanks a lot! I've been wondering this for years. My sticker in the trunk area is hardly legible due to the paint as well as my door jamb. Parts of the car have been repainted and seem more purply than the inside bits. Thanks.

Yesterday me and My dad did some shade tree mechanic hackery with some washers (tasteful though) to get everything to line up. The alternator (V6 alternator with V8 bracketry) was sat too far back and at an angle. Fixed that by bending things and washers. 😀 Burped the air out of the system too. We were baffled when it got upto 220 sitting in the driveway. Now it's back to where it was. I think it actually runs too cold. The derpy equus gauge says 150 or so at speed. These gauges suck *ss to read because the temp goes from 130 | i | 190 and its irritating. Same with the oil pressure 0 25 then 50 then 75. I will get new easier to read ones when I can. And maybe a 180 or 190 thermostat. has a 160 in it now. Also gonna clean and wash it today. Was gonna do that yesterday but got caught up in all that mess. Oh, I also found out I am -1 Cherry bomb. I have no idea where the damn thing went, and the car sits to low for it to have been stolen. And the other wont come off. So for the time being, yep. Doesn't sound any different. Tad louder.

made labels for this mess for the new gauges
