What did you do to your G-Body today? [2011-2018]

cleaned some grease from what followed me home last weekend, all original '85 442, needs work, doesn't run, but its all there.....1 of 3000 made, paid $1000 for it.

I don't even know you, and I already hate you a little 😊

But seriously, fantastic score!

For some reason 442s are everywhere and under 5k most of the time. I might have to snag one before long.

Headed to Ocala, FL to pick up my L31 350 engine to replace my fried 4.3 I'm excited!!! Anybody have any input on an L31 I tried Google and it gives dozens of references but no info 🙁 The engine was taken in trade on an LS and had cracked head (from over heating). The builder replaced the heads with vortec At this point thats all I know

I ended up going with the one I had in mind since I put this engine in, one from a '70 Skylark. 20577.
I tried the gates, didn't fit. The E70775 dosn't look like it will fit either, same with the continental. The 70775 don't exist. The "E" variant does, though. But again it doesn't look like it will fit. This was the hardest part of this swap tbh. You can't look at hoses anymore, and when you go the guy just looks at you like you're stupid. I had one guy flat out refuse to get a hose from the back that looked like the hose I brought in. It wouldn't show up on the computer for my '70 thunderbird, but as soon as he hit enter on a '70 Galaxie, he was all about it. I have an engine in a car that was never designed to have one (afaik even the 78-80 regals never got it), with a shroud from a 307 car, in a car that had a V6 originally. And before you ask, no. I tired the V6 hose a long time ago, the water neck is more close to vertical than the 350 neck, plus it's too small.
The 20577 number is an Oreilly's part number, but I got it at Autozone, E70548.

This is the hose: View attachment 99704
If you're standing by the driver's door looking at the radiator hose, this is how it's oriented. Far right bend is the water neck, other is the rad. It had to be just so in nearly every dimension to not
A) Hit the fan
B) Get smashed by the hood
C) Touch the Distributor
It's annoying, but this hose will work for my purposes. It's for a non GS (aka non Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner) '70 4 Barrel Skylark with a 5.7. I always go 4 barrel for parts, because that's what I have, but the hoses are the same. Or should be.
If they won't let you look at the hoses, it's the wrong parts store. On my brother's LS swap, I formed coat hanger wire to what I wanted and the local (front of the neighborhood) NAPA let me match them up. Took some time but worked out great. Had to trim to fit.

No leaks. Yet....

Drove around today running errands. Also bought some stuff for future use yesterday. New copper oil line and fittings, timing cover gasket set. I bought it just for the rope seal, but extra gaskets don't hurt. Radiator hose purchased yesterday is holding up fine. I need a little clamp to hold it. It being for a points car, there's still about an inch of breathing room around the HEI, so that's nice. Bought two new ratchets to replace my broken 3/8 and the 1/4 my brother stole/lost.
Also, ran over this f*ckin thing. Put a plug in the tire. In spring I'll get 2 new and put em on the front, current fronts will go on the back. This would probably go better in the "What did you buy for your g body today" thread, but I'm lazy and already had this page open.

Upper hose looks nice. It and the shroud really helps clean up the look under your hood. Nice work.
