What did you do to your G-Body today? [2011-2018]

What you need is:
1) large flat metal surface
2) Sticky backed sandpaper
3) elbow grease
The manifolds were warped on our 5.7 Grand Cherokee, being El Cheapo laid 80 grit sandpaper off a roll on a good known flat steel table at work and sanded them suckers flat. (Note) also worked to increase the compression on a old Polaris 250 quad head.

Still. There's not a lot of pics of the gaskets on a Buick, so I had no real reference. My tube is also slightly bent, so it will be coming back apart partially anyway.

I use that brand of gaskets with my headers. If you have to pull that manifold to change the location of the oil tube and the gasket delaminates the Remflex company has a great 6 month warranty and will send you another set under warranty. I had to remove my header after running to engine to fix something I missed and Remflex sent me a new set even though I explained to them it was my screw up but I was not happy that the gasket delaminated even though I never got the engine hot.

If it comes to that, I'll probably do that.

Its not really that they're lost, they're just late as of now. And yeah, the factory Buicks didnt use gaskets. You dont need them if the surfaces are machined flat. Mine weren't, so I used gaskets. Have your guy mill the exhaust surfaces on the heads and manifolds and you can get away with no gaskets. That can be said with and manifold to head surface really, both being cast iron.

I can probably have him do that, I'm doubt he'd charge more than $30 a side.

Panel clips hit the distribution center, should have em by tomorrow evening. Was tired of using a broom handle as a hood prop, so I bought some hood shocks. Also bought new RR and LR parking brake cables. The clips that hold them in the backing plate broke on the 7.5 so since the swap I haven't had an E brake. I will probably by christmas.
probably.

pulled the motor today, went well.only one chip on the firewall.no big deal.i'm super stoked i didn't have to pull the hood.heard from the machine shop about the 3rd member,he says the limited slip is well burnt up and that's why it was phoning it in @times.i'll post pics of the carnage when i get it all back.

Only finished in 40 grit at this point, but at least it’s flat and straight. Lots more work to go yet, but I’m done for today.
🥵

Laid down some POR-15 on the front half of frame/engine cradle; and then I laid down on my back like a wh*re and scraped, scrubbed, and scoured the floor boards and frame for a thankless few hours. I say wh*re because sure feel like I got slammed in the butt.

Gotta go pick up some Tremclad semi-gloss paint tomorrow to hide my shame.

Rear suspension is setup, axle is only 1/8" from square to frame rails and just a hair under 3/16" to the passenger side of the fender lip. Ride height and clearance of the LS1 fbody brakes checked with suspension loaded with weight. Paint is currently drying on the engine cross member and spindles. Tomorrow front suspension goes in for the last time.
