Haha, actually using a torch to heat it up, then holding the round side of a ball pain on the tube and hitting with a 4lb sledge. It won't be visible much once installed.
Ok, I've used that method before. I don't have any metal pipe, and really don't wanna bust up a socket but I might try that later.

Scott, I used a body man's Dolly when I had to massage the exhaust pipe to clear the power steering ram on Dad's Galaxie. I didn't have to use any heat. It was hard work but it turned out relatively clean. A dolly has some mass, so it will move some metal. No need for a hammer. I used the two dollies on the right side of the this picture......
