Used purple power on the engine bay to clean it so I can watch for future possible leaks

Started getting my parts list together for my next parts order to fix my intake and looking at a heat insulator for the carb Edelbrock makes a nice one that will also separate my dual plane correctly so I’m interested in that I’m just hoping it will actually work with my summit carb. Also looking at using the exhaust crossover blocks instead of the Mondello steel plates this time and possibly weld them in to avoid the rattle issues. Finally got the right pulley so now I’m waiting on the correct water pump and then I am going to test my booster because I swear something is up with the brakes and my gut says booster but I intend to slowly work my way through the system if need be. I tried to find out my gear ratio but they undercoated very thick on the rearmed so there was no chance of seeing the code and I have no tag in the trunk.

Question how often do the 7.5 axle seals leak I have signs of liquid on both rear backing plates and it doesn’t look to be brake fluid.

Finished welding and grinding the hood, put the first skim of filler down. Then sat and stared at the car while drinking a beer trying to figure out what I am going to do with the paint.....then had another beer....then turned off the lights. View attachment 112080
I need to do this to my hood. I have 2 spare to mess with and need one pretty soon.

Ordered parts for it and pondered plans.
LED 194 bulbs for gauge cluster and anywhere else I can put the extras
New fel pro metal intake gaskets on the way
New fel pro rubber valve cover gaskets on the way
New wheel cylinders on the way
Block off plugs for the heat risers on the way may be used depending on the state of the current block off plates.
More thread locker since somehow this motor rattles any and every bolt lose
More RTV black
Water pump should be here tomorrow fingers crossed so I can get the motor going again

While I’m in there the timing cover gasket was new and there was oil and dirt all over the front of the motor but my father swears it was from the previous time the intake seal leaked we just never cleaned it so with that said

Does the timing cover ever leak from the bolts and would it be worthwhile to pull the bolts one at a time for some Teflon tape and thread locker? Will it stay sealed as long as I Retorque the first bolt prior to removing another?

Also with the Edelbrock intake would it make sense to use Teflon tape and thread locker from what I saw in the Edelbrock manual it listed Teflon tape for bolt holes that could cause vacuum leaks but I was unsure if it applied to this application.

Where is the cheapest place to source a windshield washer reservoir since I can’t find them in the salvage yard?

Well I would say no to the Teflon tape on the timing bolts, won't help but won't hurt either.
As for the intake, the number one thing to always remember is to never use a gasket of any sort on the ends. Just some ultrablack with an extra shot at each corner as well as a bead across the block. A sure way to have a leak is to use a rubber gasket. As for the Teflon tape on the intake, any different metal or where there will be fluid deserves a wrap. Can't hurt, can only help

To add to the teflon discussion, remember to start the tape on the second thread, you don't want shards getting into the stream
