It would seem I can't get enough of fixing T56 trannies.

At least when this is done I can rip on the thing again. Broke the trans way back in 2015 or 2016? After breaking the T56 in the Camaro back in June, I'm beginning to think I may have broken a key inside this one. At a minimum, getting new syncro rings/frictions in 1-2, new 1-2 slider, snap ring kit, all billet keys, plastic shift fork pads, and whatever else I find wrong. Going to send the shift linkage off to tmod as well to tighten that up.

Of course I can't navigate that site at work to link to the specific procedure, because government.

Yes yes I have. Especially sense we don't have anyone working in that bag during the day and we mostly use it for drying paint and storing incoming parts witch puts all the newbies in there constantly. I have warned all of them and the estimators don't even breathe on it and don't touch anything around it. So far so good
Didn't you say a tech left for lunch and never came back?

Maybe you sit in a corner, tear down and oil a gun, or put a fine hone on a kbar, and casually grumble within hearing around anyone who walks by 'I told so and so to stay away from my truck' over and over....

I bet they got it a wide berth after

Most do anyway

So Supercharged111 our takeaway here is you've got pent up frustration because you can't rip on your favorite transmission in your c5, and, you wish said tyranny was tightened up before you rip on it in said vette.

And apparently there's 'instructions' or video about doing things with your tyranny but govt work filters block the website....

Eh..... you're in a progressive state, so, as long as it's consensual who are we to judge right?

As far as the video goes, we are (nominally) a family friendly site, so just remember that...

But I'd say this: you'd have more space and probably an easier time abusing your transmission in a gbody wagon than a c5, just food for thought since you're intent to go down the road.

Liberal is an understatement, CO and WA were the first to legalize recreational weed. Fortunately this town has 4 military bases, so most folks you run into are on the up and up. As for the Monte, I'm leaning more toward a 4L80. Just need to remember to keep my eyes open for one cheap. But I will have a T56 for it down the road if I decide to change my mind. After the C5 I'm going to fix my spare and next is converting the C6 box to F-body status.

Yo, Clutch, about that hood. UPS carries bubble wrap by the sheet or by the bobbin. Hit your nearest franchise and score a bunch; wrap that hood up tighter than a baby in swaddling clothes, Then you hit Harbor Freight and score a pair of moving blankets and add them as additional cushioning/ protection, and finally Add a top layer of heavy carboard, and be sure to double pad the corners!! All this won't stop some air brained apprentice from being clumsy but will provide you with some peace of mind if the worst does occur. And you always have the activated sludge pit in which to hide the post trauma consequences. Hee, Hee.

Took the night off tonight just went to EJ's and borrowed his tool for the clutch fan. Neet tool it's like a wrench driven by an air hammer. Anyway both my new intercooler pipes and my dinner was waiting for me when I got home. After careful deliberation this evening I ordered more parts. My rad support bushings were shot and when I priced them from GM today I found it was cheaper to go with new aftermarket polyurethane and reuse the hardware. Tonight I plan on chilling with the wife and getting a good night sleep. Tomorrow's plan is get up early and hit it hard again. The machine shop is open tomorrow so hopefully I can get the heads off and over to him before he closes up. Can't do much Sunday it's Lauren's birthday my little one is turning 16 so that's her day. Once the heads are injectors go out I'll concentrate on some cleaning rust repair and painting. I'm probably just going to do the frame with satin black Rust-Oleum but I'm thinking about doing 8555 base clear on the bottom of the cab because it's green E-coat now and was never undercoated. It won't be bad to prep because it's in amazingly good shape. Idk I may just undercoat it depends how time goes.

Along the lines of the idea that I offered for the hood, it occurred to me that some consideration ought to be given to fabricating a cradle for that cab out of 2" x 2" x 1/4" wall sq tube; 4 vertical posts and braces or angled struts in between to create a cage for underneath to make it more stable. The point made in an earlier comment is valid; having it just sitting on the arms of the lift as it is without any kind of restraint, even some serious ratchet straps is an open invitation for that air brained apprentice that was mentioned earlier to get even more clumsy. The other thing here is that with a cradle set in position, if the lift happens to fail for whatever reason, it saves the cab from crashing down back onto the frame and maybe damaging the engine in the process. For myself I am not a big fan of having things hanging in the breeze and hoping that the wind does not get any stronger.

Don't blame you. That looks like an absolute pain in the *ss to do anything on. And who doesn't love a case of the "While I'm in here's"
Don't think of it as hemorrhaging money; rather consider it as being a repeat blood donor only the blood is green and in great demand. Nick
