What did you do to your shop today?

My neighbor dropped off this lift to me. One piston leaks at full lift, and it’s a little too bulky for him to move around.

How has the propane use been? Curious how much has it used and are you keeping it heated at all times or just when you are working out there?

Ive kept the garage at 45° or so when I'm not working in it. When I have been out there I cranked it up to 65-70°. On my second 100lb tank, I would bet it getting close to being empty.
I was off work between Christmas and New Years so I left the heat on the entire time that week. Helps that my garage door is new, and insulated. Walls are well insulated, only issue is minimal amount of insulation on the ceiling. Garage has a open soffets and a ridge vent so the attic is cold space. I'm sure that's where most of my heat is going. But all in all, I'm VERY happy with the usage so far.
It has been a light winter around us so far though but I don't expect usage to change drastically.

Awesome!! Thanks for the information. I've been looking at the exact heater for my 30x40. I've got 3.5" foam board insulation on the walls and doing metal ceiling with blown in insulation. The ceiling is roughly 11' so it should heat well with that unit. I'm in Michigan and have had a pretty darn mild winter also. Thanks again for the information

hmmm never thought about that. could be indeed an evolution of my primitive storage a.k.a. pile up...

yeah, when I cleared out stuff last year I used 'nana boxes for donations 'cuz they're big and strong. the ceiling racks are good for getting big bulky lightweight items out of the way, or ideal for storage containers like the 25gal totes, just watch the weight. I have a larger garage so I have 5 rolling racks with 5 shelves 48"w x 19"d x 72"h that support up to 500lbs/shelf

I had one like that for a bit. It was nice for certain things. Wheels, suspension etc. Lots of stuff in the way though for most engine/transmission related stuff. Even an oil change, not a real convenient place to put the drain pan. And yeah, they're not easy to move around. If it's the same as mine, You used the hydraulic unit as a dolly to move the thing around, but they're damn heavy. You can move it, but it ain't easy.

It’s the same. Where it’s going, I won’t be moving it often and it’ll work great for what I want it for.

The control switch on my compressor finally gave up, I had a replacement here I got a while back so I put it on. I got this compressor from a good friend back in 2011, and I've probably put $40 worth of parts in it since. Excellent unit.

Just lack putting on doors for the bench. Airfryer and microwave installed. Lots of little stuff. Going well. Wished I could have built it 30 years ago. If you are on the fence about building one...do it and have time to enjoy it.
