My two-stage IR has lasted a decade. Eat it!

(Technically the motor (likely the capacitors) and intercooler pipe needed to be changed)
Well duh, of course it’ll last forever if you never use it!
🤣🤣🤣

Don’t take it personally Jared. I see a zillion different compressors in my day to day travels, and aren’t really impressed with Ingersoll Rand. They’re attractive to the hobbiest due to their price point, but they aren’t the greatest. That being said, their recip compressors are better than their screw compressors, total leak fest after a only a couple hundred hours. We joke around the shop that they come new with soaker pads for the inevitable as part of the warranty kit.
😅
I'm not. I know you know exactly what you are talking about.

We thought we were buying a decent compressor, compared to Home Depot, Craftsman, Kobalt, other readily available compressors for the hobbiest.

It's given us good service. It was instrumental in building Sean's Camaro and I feel like we worked it pretty hard with the blast cabinet, the die grinder and the DA sander. It has a bit more than 145 hours on it (yes, I'm neurotic and put an hour meter on it when new).

So far, I think it will outlast me. If I had it to do over I'd rather have gotten a dual stage version but the spend was too high at the time.

It's biggest short coming is how hot it runs. The best parts, made in USA and 100% duty cycle.

In the interest of helping those (hobbyists) in the market for a compressor, I'm curious to hear what is really good stuff. if you are inclined to comment, I for one would be interested.

He'll probably say Eastwood... shill that he is. 😉

Of all the days to pick on an active veteran... The kind of guy who probably pushes old ladies down the stairs too. 😛

All kinds of choices if you look around and consider all the options. My personal compressor is an old Eagle that my dad originally bought back in the 90’s. Single stage, single phase, 3 cylinder. I’ve worked that thing hard for many years, and it’s just kept on ticking. Common misconception is that more pressure equals more volume, that’s actually the opposite to how it works. Less pressure equals more volume within the abilities of the compressor. So I keep my discharge pressure below 125 psi, which is easier on it as well.

Outside of that, the old DevAir 445’s, 447’s, and 44643’s are all damn near indestructible, are comparatively quiet, and make air like a ****. Quincy’s, Champion’s, and some of the Omega’s are decent too.
Do some research, you might be surprised at what you learn.

Not a chance. Too rich for my blood, and know nothing of their reputation. Little secret tho, Eastwood is no where big enough to manufacture their own compressors, they’ll likely just be somebody else’s that’s been re-branded.

Funny, not funny but reminds me of a joke:
Why is your coworker/ex/(insert whoever here) like a Slinky?

Cause they’re both not really good for much, but still fun to watch when you push them down the stairs!

Here's mine. Bought it from Tractor supply about 13 years ago. Its just a rebranded Campbell Hausfeld. You can't find the three cylinder versions any more. 13.4cfm @ 90psi. Most I was able to find without going to a two stage compressor which greatly increased the price. I followed the directions during startup. You must open the drain valve and not allow it to build pressure when initially turn it on. Let it run for an hour I think. Drain the oil and change it. Only issue I've had is the reed valves sticking in the heads twice so far. I really need to come up with a better intake air filter system. That would probably prevent it.
