GM's designations for different size cars were traditionally alphabetical. A-body was the Malibu, LeMans, Skylark, Cutlass size, B-body was Bonneville, LeSabre, Impala etc., C-body was Olds 98, Buick Electra, Cadillac Deville size. When the new front-drive mid- size cars were introduced in 1981, they were given the "A" designation. Since the rear-drive platform was on borrowed time at that point, the body designation for that line of vehicles was changed to "G". The simple designations of years past are now history. We have numeric designations such as GMT800 or Greek letters such as Alpha, Zeta etc.

You have to be careful. The bolt pattern is the same so they will physically bolt on however depending on the backspacing and offset, they may hit everything.

3rd gen F-body wheels will bolt-on if you use (4) front wheels. The 4th gen wheels won't fit unless you get wheel spacers due to the backspacing.

S-10 rims I believe are pretty safe though as far as backspacing and offset.

GM Still uses single letters for their cars; HHR = A body. Impala = W body. Malibu = Z body. corvette as always Y body. Camaro = E body

Interesting enough the new Regals are designated as G body  .
