More '99 CC SWB suspension progress. Struggled over the weekend w/parts. 2qty set's of upper a-arm bushings & no lowers. Still have to review my receipt as that might have been an oversight on my end (not knowing which uppers were needed so I ordered both sizes to CMA & then when I reviewed the purchase list ASSumed the 2-different p/ns were for upper/lowers). Then, I killed a BJ when pressing it in. $70 loss & a >30min wait in line @ my local O'Reilly's auto (would have take 2+ hours going to Summit so it is what it is). Since there were delays because of the parts, I went into further clean-up detail than planned. The new spindles had to be painted or they'll rust @ first opportunity. I went ahead & cleaned/scrubbed the other items & rattled some VHT epoxy black on them as well.

Initial assembly was completed under darkness last night. All hardware for the upper/lower a-arms is still loose but those major parts are connected. Hope to have it sitting on weight by 5pm today so I can gauge drop amount & appearance vs the rear.

New tires for the Subaru came today. It desperately needs them, I think the current General Altimax all seasons are at 2/32", got a little over 30k miles from them. These are Falken Wildpeak All Terrains, they weren't too expensive and have the winter 3 peak mountain designation so they should be better than regular M+S tires.

30k on a car tire? You must wheel that thing pretty hard.

Son and I dragged home a $1,000 '84 Porsche 944 on Saturday. Kid we bought it from said wouldn't start. It was last registered/inspected/driven in 2003.

I figured the Fuel Injectors were stuck, Rock Auto had 4 Fuel injectors for $74 Shipped, so I ordered them. My kid diagnosed the Fuel Pump relay was bad, so He bypassed it with by wrapping it with a paper clip,

Had the fuel pump working by Sunday night, put new gas in it, and it cranks + fuel pressure, but still no start.

Fuel Injectors. arrived today (Very nice for $15 each), Just put them in. 4 Cranks to get fuel pressure later and it starts and idles @ 700 RPM. After 17 years.

Got to put a Slave/master cylinder/ timing belts/water pump/new hoses in it and We should have a running driving 944 for $2,500

The Tires are sad. They are 02' date codes and one still has the sticker on the tread (probably 25 miles max) but they cracked and weather checked and dead. Going to put some $58/tire tires on it.

I guess I am. This will be the 4th set of tires going on at 91k miles. The originals wore out real quick. I can't remember what they were. Then had a set of Hankooks, then these General Altimax RT43s.

Edit: OEMs were Bridgestone Duelers. They sucked.

I feel like these Falkens I got are junk after 15k. They hydroplane at 50mph, and spin like they're made of granite.
Why didn't you tell me that before I bought them? :ROFLMAO:

I got 44k out of 40k Duratracs. I'm there again on my 2nd set and they're better off than the first set. This is with a good bit of towing a 9000# enclosed trailer which lays waste tow pigs tires. They must really suck that bad.

I rotate them regularly too. I probably drive harder than the average crossover owner but I'm not doing donuts with it. It does see almost all city driving.

I've run several sets of Falkens. Never had a complaint about performance but they wear fast.
