What did you do to your non-G Body project today [2024 edition]

Met a couple of buddies at a show, the Monte that was noticed from last week took my spot this week so had to park somewhere else but still hid under my tree. Then went for some food followed by ice cream

Drove it through a rocker deep mud hole
Then cleaned it after the shat on look got old.

I'm done messing with this CR-V for now. It cleaned up surprisingly well for as bad as it was. There's a few stains in the seats that just aren't gonna come out, but it's at least presentable. Considering that last week I didn't even want to sit in it without gloves and a mask, I'm calling it a win. I changed the oil, both air filters, and the power steering fluid and brake fluid that was in the reservoirs.

So just a few shots of my latest non-G project while it still sits on my welding deck. The keen of eye will have identified it as the kickstand for a motorcycle, specifically my vintage HD. This one is not stock, 2 inches longer in fact, in order to place the bike in a more upright position. Makes it easier on what little is left of my ab muscles to heft the ride totally upright.

What is not also immediately visible is that the shape of the shaft is no longer circular or round, it is actually now tear drop shaped due to a section of 1/2 x1/2 x 1/8th angle being grafted to the lower half of its circumference. This addition was done by way of adding a little re-enforcement to the shaft to help it better resist the weight of a full dress Glide being applied to it.

That odd construction near the bottom of the stand is a combination of stand off that indexes onto a rubber pad attached to the outer primary to keep it from smacking that cover and damaging it over time, and a way for a boot to better grab and deploy the kickstand foot out and get it to lock in its mount. Without that tab, the stand sits tight to the cover and could be difficult to get a boot sole on in order to move it out.

Bought the family an all original 1985 GMC suburban K2500 with the 6.2 diesel (NO SMOG!) backed by a 700r4. Brought her home on a trailer due to a fuel leak on one of the return lines between the injectors. Me being the detailer in the family I had to quickly hit a section with some compound to see how well this original single stage paint will polish out, I will let you guys be the judge on how shiny it is.

Awesome find!

Still cranking away on the 55 Chevy, did a ton of electric upgrades/repairs. Swapped out the center section in the diff last night. I still have to make a nitrous solenoid brackets, tie into the fuel system, and install two 5 point harnesses. Power Tour 2024 is coming fast, we are long hauling so I have to leave Sunday!

I guess I didn’t have enough projects to keep me busy so I bought a 4 wheeler. Let the games begin!
