My '86 T-type had Zero plastic baffles in the tank. I replaced the original fuel pump and took pictures when I replaced the tank in 2017 - No baffles. 86' and '87 Turbo Buicks had completely different Fuel tanks/fuel pump set ups so likely '85 and earlier cars looked like my '86. My '86 tank hanger still had the expansion thingy in the fuel line that was for the "water hammer" effect batch fire had on the fuel line.

It did have a mid tank divider wall so it did not starve the pump under acceleration, but aggressive off ramps at less than 1/2 tank would stall the motor

For the spectra replacement tank I bent the lips of the baffle bowl in with plyers.

I also removed the restrictions in the new sending unit/fuel pump hanger,

by removing the neckdown with my $10 HF cut off wheel. I also opened the outlet so it was full 3/8"

Either your car was assembled with the wrong tank or someone switched it out at some point. I just spoke with several TB guys and all said they should have the same baffled tank. Here are pictures right from my 1987 GM parts book. Same part number 22523080 for all 4 model years.

I've been searching for a decent tank for my 442 before I convert it and at first the Aeromotive gen 2 tanks looked good, but I saw a review on summit about the interference issue, which was verified on here a few times. Found these Hyperfuel tanks and it looks like the sender sender location is recessed more than the Aeromotive tank. Was wondering if anyone has tried one of these before I pull the trigger. If nobody has, I'll just bite the bullet and post up on here how well it works.

That looks like a nice tank but why pay $549 when the Spectre tank is a fraction of that cost?

I get that the Spetra tank is only 200 bucks, but you still have to buy the sender and the pump of your choice which takes it to right around 400. Figure for the extra 150-200 for a drop in tank with new sender, pump and a neck that doesn't need to be modified..... it's worth it to me. I've got more projects than time, so the faster I can get through this one and on to the next, the better off I am. 😁

You never said how much power you are making. A Spectra tank with a sender and a 255 lph pump will support over 500 horse power naturally aspirated. You can get the Spectra 307c tank for about $185 shipped. A Spectra sending unit for $115 and a Walbro GSS 342 pump for $60. If you need more fuel volume you can move up to 340, 450 and even a 525lph HellCat pump and then there are the double pump sets ups using all of the same.
You can do whatever you want, but I just described what many of us on here have used. Buy that tank if the money is burning a hole in your pocket. Just keep in mind that the filler neck will be a universal one on that tank as well and will most likely need some massaging or modifying to fit.
The Spectra with the Buick sender is great as it has a 3/8" feed that hooks right up to the stock 3/8" lines.

You might get lucky and get some input on this forum but due to the cost it is likely you are treading new territory with this tank. If the tank is universal it’s also unlikely it’ll fit as well as the Spectre tank with your OEM filler neck installed. Hopefully you’re not disappointed and end up wrapping a lot of time up into this. Report back to the forum and update our knowledge base

OP, why are you stuck on having a new tank? Is your current one bad? If not, use the Holley efi fuel pump module and drop it into the old tank and be done with it. I just bought one myself.

Nothing says room to grow like 2 #12 ports hehe. I have almost $150 in that tank.
