It's not a problem until you find yourself buying a 1 ton 2 car flatbed to make it easier to get them all home lol even then it's ok it's just becoming a business.
Bought this trailer last fall.

This popped up on marketplace last night and went and looked at it after work today.

Dad and I have have had a 4th gen firebird since 2010. I drove it through HS/college as a winter beater and dad uses it as his beater speed car. Put an l67 in it and ran a best of 12.63.

The chassis on ours is beat, it's rusty, and the clear/paint is flaking. Suspension is toast, The dash is cracked and the seats are flat. The only good thing is the drivetrain which is really good.

Been looking for a clean 98-02 3800 non vert auto in not white, red, black or grey. Like 80% of 4th gens come in red, black, white or grey so finding one in something else is really hard. I also don't want the ugly T/A appearance cladding package which like 50% of 3800 y87 cars have.

This 00 maroon (really low production 00-02 only color) with the y87 perf package (f41, posi, 3.42, rear disks), non w68 cladding, power leather seats came up. Had 215k but was in good enough shape to look at.

It is basically optioned exactly how I want. Only way that it could be better would be dark green or gold.

Bummer though, the rear half is just starting to rust out, the interior smells like a pall-mall factory and the seats had some sketchy repair, it's like they rolled silicone or RTV on the deteriorating/cracked leather.

I'm not surprised it's rusty, but I am bummed. Would be nice to have a nice roller to drop my l67 setup into. Ideal and really rare options.

The rust was just starting to bubble through the rear quarter lips, and a hole was just appearing on the lower quarter adjacent to the rocker. Basically identical rust issues as my red firebird had when I got it in 2010. If I didn't know about the rust issues that 4th gens were liable to I might have fallen for it, but I walked. LCA subframe was just starting to rust through also.

Decided to see how the truck and garden bed would handle a yard of dirt. I went to the place in uniform, so dude driving the loader hooked me up with a "yard" and let me know before I left for expectation management purposes. I'm glad he did as I used this run to calculate what I need to top this off and fill the second.

PXL_20220419_003037988.jpg

Squatted it good. The Google machine says that's around 2100-2500# for a real yard. Truck felt nothing like a typical overloaded half ton be it from a power, braking, or bouncy suspension standpoint. Never hit the bump stops.

PXL_20220419_003610523.jpg

Good clearance there. I got home and opened the gate.

PXL_20220419_003538524.jpg

Math tells me this is more than a yard by a decent amount.

PXL_20220419_023626731.jpg

The studs are 17" tall and the box is 4x8. That puts me right at 1.5 yards, so no less than 3000# in the bed. I guess that leaf pack is legitimately good for the 6000# GM claims after all. Gonna get 2 real yards next time for the second bed as this one came up a little short and the next one will be a little shorter. We won't be trying to separate and reuse the clay that's there, it sucks!

Agreed. You should be able to find a nice V6 car down here pretty cheap. They go to the crusher here with no rust and shiney paint. With inflation, you should be able to ship it up there for less than $2k.

I've always been a fan of the low production green and light blue paint. (Not the indigo colored looking cars). I've seen a couple lately in the 2-3k range, running and driving 3800 series models

Ditto. I've seen a few of the green ones around and looked at a light blue for sale a number of years ago. They are really nice colors and stand out.

I've been lucky finding southern cars that get brought north for my G body project cars, I've been lazy/hopeful one will migrate up here but I think I will have to make a trip south of Missouri to get a decent one if I get serious.

Been glancing at them myself for a while, but one of the car shows just highlighted how easily they are found cheaper and quick to make fun some I am sure the prices will rise. I had been looking for that blue/green here and there

I dug out a section to drop the second bed into and put it up last night.

PXL_20220420_013052930.jpg

Gotta get rid of this and pick up another 2 yards to get both beds filled completely after work today.

PXL_20220420_145222193.jpg

Not sure if it counts as "clean" fill dirt with all the dead grass clinging to it.
