Here is the bend in the project where everything gets hard when it shouldn't be.
In the process of changing my rear main seal because the OEM seal is 22 years old and it's easy to change now.
The new felpro seal presses in REALLY easy. By hand. Yuck. OEM seal was a national that is superseded to the new one. GM seal is now made by Felpro. I test fit a f*g from Napa and it's a little more snug but also easy to press in by hand.
Have a new National seal coming in from across town. Rock auto diagram shows its the same style as the OEM national. One hopes it presses in better. Not sure how this isn't a reported problem??
Yesterday I spent 2 hours driving around trying to find a shop to refinish my flywheel. First one said they would do it, I dropped it off, drove 45 mins home and got a call as soon as I got home that it was too far gone and they wont do it.
Called 3 other shops and they either don't refinish flywheels or didn't pick up the phone.
Finally found one that did it. They removed 0.017". 24 hour turnaround for $107. He said it was a tough one and took a lot of CBN off the blanchard but it looks good, it was cheaper than a new $400 flywheel and got done soon.
Now I just need to get some luck on the rear main. Blah.
