my hats off to you and 64nailhead,you guys r&r these motors without reservation.it takes me at least two days just to get mine out.
Good progress. One step closer to having her back on the road.Dad was in town and helped pull the engine today.
Still need to crack onto it but there was shrapnel in the intake manifold and a piece of an oil control ring in the #5 intake runner so yeah...

Can you tell if anything made it into the blower?
Blower looks clean! The intercooler brick acted as a mesh and kept all the debris down.
Having my parents over for the weekend helped a lot. Dad and I can work 3 times as fast on the garage together and Mom helped do grandma stuff with the baby so I got a good stretch in the garage.
I pulled the driver's head off and #3 piston as expected is gone. The head looks rough and #5 rod is twisted. The block is ugly from the rod whacking the cylinder but strangely the rod is still there.
Either way the engine is shot. Debris all through the top of the heads, block needs to be sleeved, combination chamber on driver head would need to be repaired.
Coil issue maybe?

The gouges from the pin smacking the cylinder are definitely deeper than .030, probably +.060
In for the tear down.
You confirming that #5 is wonky leads to an initial guess that you found the limit of the Gen 3 rods. I'll guess that there are impact/love rubs on the counterweight for #3. How did the head gasket look?
