BUILD THREAD 87 Cutlass EFI build: 9/13/23..NEW STUFF!

Looking great Scott!

Like the other guys, I love the color. Totally agree on the color looking timeless. Nothing worse than being able to date a car by the build style or colors used during that period (pastels on street rods from the eighties anyone?)

You're definitely at a milestone moment, times like this for you are excellent motivators to rekindle enthusiasm and keep you rocking along!

Keep up the great work and of course, keep us all posted on the progress. Looking forward to more pics of the overall car when you get a chance!
Thanks Donovan! Funny you said something about '80's pastels...i saw a 38 chevy earlier today that was pastel green and included the most awesome tweed interior!
I have friday blacked out for cutlass time while the wife is out in the mayhem (better her than me, I'd rather be wrenchin) to bolt on the fenders, header panel, decklid, hood, etc. Hope to have it mostly assembled and start the tedious taping job to have it ready for the booth.
Here are a couple more pics, i will most likely take more on friday.

There are a few imperfections from the clear, nothing a little wet sanding and buffing won't fix though.
Geez, i realize now how easy it is to spot the rocker replacements lol....however it won't be seen once the sill plates are installed!

The more I see it, the more I love that color.
Seriously, much appreciated opie! Just the little bit of feedback here as well as family has reinforced my decision on color choice. I've been glued to this color code for awhile, and have seen plenty of vehicles on the road and the more I've seen it, the more i became hooked!!! Once all my blacked out trim is added it should really give the evil, sinister look I've visioned for years!

It's awesome having a wife that is into cars, definitely thankful for that! I got home and was showing her paint pics....one pic the color looks bright because of lighting and she was like "i hope it isn't that bright when done" lol. Once i showed her the other spectrum when less light hits it she just grinned and said she loved it!
Having a supportive family and girls who have just as much fun playing with their hot wheels as barbies give me some hope.
I should have some assembly pics friday, stay tuned.

Got a full day in on the ole girl today guys! Decklid is gapped and on for final time, fenders, hood, and header panel are bolted on as well. Overall, I'm really pleased with the gaps and overall alignment.
The bumper covers, bumpers, spoiler and taillights will come back off before paint, but my bodyguy wanted to throw a couple nuts and bolts on to get the parts out of the way. The cutlass will soon have a couple covers over it and go into hibernation until the paint booth is up and running. This will give me time to prep alot of parts for the blackout treatment so when paint is done we can hammer down. Enjoy the pics, i know its dirty but it will definitely get treated right before the paint flies!

Hell yeah! Looking good man. So you're basically just waiting on the booth. Hopefully that won't take long to get ready.
Yeah hopefully not too long....as of now about a month or so out. I just picked up a cover and tarp, gonna wrap it up good to keep it as clean as possible for now. Been a long day, glad its over to be honest! Very rewarding day, but all 3 of us working on it are whooped....trying not to scratch any of the fresh paint whew lol!!!!

I like this color also and have been weighing options on what color I will paint my Regal and this was one of them.
Dig the Monte SS lay down spoiler also.

Thanks, it really does look awesome in the light, but seriously looks black in the shade. The pic above showing the fender bolted on and hood open....can't tell in the pic but my engine bay is black.
Noticed the SS spoiler i see lol! If it wasn't for having 6 holes in my decklid i woulda broke it in half several times over lol! I love how it flows with the body line of the cutlass, but it was a royal pita to make it look and fit right! No joke, i have hours just in trimming the ends back, glassing, sanding, filler, sanding, skim coats, sanding, yall get the point....but thats hotrodding!
