Got my new hubs today! Bought from detroit axle via ebay as i saw they were a decent hub for the $$. Only thing i don't like is the wheel side is not closed off which will allow water to get in....any ideas guys? I might make some plates that so i can seal off the hole.

As usual....they look nice outta the box, but if not painted they will rust. Gonna wipe em down and paint them to protect them. View attachment 60017
Just measure the ID of the hub hole before the spline and order some freeze plugs. From what I understand the 4wd and 2wd hubs are same?

Hmmm, that's a good idea Jim, thanks! The JY units had caps that i popped out, but they are too big to fit into the holeof the new hubs. The units i got are 2wd specific...they don't have the 4wd splines for the CV's. I will pick up my micrometer from my brother n laws garage (where 90% of my tools are lol) and get a good measurement on the ID.

Thanks again buddy, much appreciated!

According to my mic...i need a couple that are 1-1/4" od. 1.249-1.251 was the range i was getting so ima hunt some down locally since they are cheap.

Score! Local oreilly had these for a whopping $1.67 total for two. Best part is when the lady asked me what i was looking for and i told her, she didn't pull the "what year, make, model, and name of your 1st born" rigamaro lol! Said "you need rubber or metal, and what size"!!! It's refreshing to know that there is still knowledge out there, not just a counter holder upper who can punch keys.

Anywho, ima try and pop these in later, hopefully they fit right!

Scott,

Might not be necessary, but consider using a little sealant or loctite on those to help ensure a good seal.

You read my mind Jared! I test fit one and it actually doesn't need to be tapped in...it sits right into the hole. I plan on putting a bead of high temp sealant around them, and i think once it sets up i should be good to paint em afterwards.
