1 of things l found is the sliding hammer, it works OK for big dents but not so well for little ones. I like visegrips on the stud to just pull evenly and in any direction, kind of wiggle it around to pop out dent .

There is softer and harder studs too, that could have been and issue.
I think I may take your advice especially when I get to the crease and get the stud welder and try it with the vise grips. I did notice 2 different size studs. When I tried to weld it on it would fall off. So I held it longer and it burned a hole. I did get a couple to stay on. Tips on that Mr Bob64? Thanks. Btw my name is david. Nice to meet you

Nice to meet you David !! Alittle confused on the stinger you were using, normally it's push it against the metal good an hard, hit the trigger and bang done, just like laying a tack weld. I've had 2 stingers over the years , the one in the pic is a new one($570 cad) , used it once and it works just like the old one($900 cad)

It looks almost identical to that one. When I had it I would put stud into gun, press hard, press trigger. Pull away stud falls off. Lol. Or stud gone through metal. About 129 usd

Damn that's a nice price if it works ! The 570 price one was the cheapest l could find which exchange it would be about $425 usd, as l'm getting close to being finish with building vehicles couldn't see getting a better one, 2 more cars to go !!

Try using welding flux on tip of stud, maybe help or a smaller stud/softer.

I've read that the Harbor Freight stud gun was ok but no personal experience with it. The Magna Spot is outstanding. Studs will only do so much though. I've gotten too rough and actually pulled them off, creating a small hole. I'm no expert. On the Mig skills, just get out there and practice David. That's what it takes. I welded on two quarters, two rockers, a trunk dropoff, a wheelhouse patch, a tail panel and a door skin on my brother's car. Now I've done two rockers and five quarter panel patches on my Dad's car. I just now feel like I'm getting to where I know what I'm doing.

I am going to revisit the stud gun again for parts of the dent. Used one on my 66 malibu. HF. From a friend. It did ok. Not this one I purchased for this. Mr bob64 had some good tips. Saturday was my first attempt at silver solder on door jamb by myself without pop watching. I think I did ok. Gotta fill in a couple spots and clean and smooth. Pop silver solder my lower fender patches on my 66 and it looks good after smooth, filler, and prime. Think I need a new welder anyway. This hf flux core welder is cheap and has not worked right the 10 yrs I have had it. For $99 I guess I got what I paid for.
