I hope you never fix this "blemish" on the Green Machine, it gives the Green Machine character....🙂

Wouldn't that push the bumper out further since they go between the chassis and the bumper shock mount?

Nothing even noticeable. I've got Spool Fools's 1 piece fiberglass rear bumper filler installed with the GNS rear frame rail brace on my GN and it's not discernible . Only would increase the distance between the chassis and bumper shock mount pad by the thickness of the material of the brace which may be 1/8" as stated already. You literally won't notice it. Besides your factory bumper uses factory spacers that do the vary same thing and these are located between the pad mount and inner bumper shell. Just eliminate this and you're back to normal spacing pre GNS rear frame rail brace.

Our cars do not use bumper shocks. They have honey come behind the covers. I don't see that brace fitting a 79 Monte .
